Tell us a little bit about your business.
I am a Pittsburgh-based acoustic wedding singer, specializing in wedding ceremonies, cocktail hours, and acoustic first dances. Sounds like: Michael Buble meets Jason Mraz. Styles: Pop, classics, country, classical, foreign languages.
What makes your work unique?
I can sing just about anything! I am mostly known for my ability to combine the smooth vocals of singers like Michael Buble, Jason Mraz, or Josh Groban with excellent acoustic guitar accompaniment. I am a classically-trained singer and musician, with the ability to sing in nearly all styles – from pop and country to classical/operatic and rat pack. I am very detail-oriented when it comes to my performances. Unlike with recorded music, I tailor the ceremony song lengths in real time so that the song is as short or as long as it needs to be, so that the entire ceremony feels seamless without abrupt stops or fade-outs. Sometimes, I also offer my songwriting skills to alter lyrics to a couple’s favorite songs, or even write completely custom songs for their wedding.
What is your ideal client like?
My couples LOVE live music, and thus have very high standards for their wedding music. They understand that their wedding ceremony is a once-in-a-lifetime event, so they want things executed perfectly. They highly value live music as a one-of-a-kind experience that cannot be re-created, and they prioritize their planning accordingly. In other words, my brides don’t want to walk down the aisle to the same tired recording that everybody else does, and they’re willing to keep searching until they find that perfect performer to accompany them as they take some of the most memorable steps of their lifetime.
How do you get to know a couple’s taste in music?
As part of my consultative process, I talk with my couples about their favorite songs, artists, and styles to help them pick the perfect songs to walk down the aisle to.
How do you motivate guests to get on the dance floor?
In whatever work I do, I pay close attention to what songs and styles make the guests’ ears perk up and their feet tap. That way, if I am asked to play dance music, I know what styles will make that dance floor irresistible.
How would you describe your emcee style?
My couples have described my style as “friendly”, “down-to-earth”, and “professional”.
