Tell us a little bit about your business.
I have been enamored with capturing the tiny, perfect moments in our simple, daily lives for as long as I can remember. I have been photographing weddings as Taylor Ollason Photography since 2014 in Pittsburgh, but was fortunate enough to take my business full time in 2022 and it has been an insane whirlwind ever since.
I believe my work is very intentional and I aim to make all of my couples feel as though they could step in front of a camera and work it – no matter what. I love collaborating with my clients and pushing the creative limits to capture a concept or an idea or help their vision of their wedding day come to life.
What makes your work unique?
I strive to have every client leave a session with me feeling badass, like they just stepped out of their comfort zone and showcased how cool and dope they can be in front of a camera. I love when I photograph someone and they see the image and go, “Oh my god, that’s me?!?!” and I always reply with, “HELL YEAH IT’S YOU!” I don’t necessarily aim to make everyone a “model” but I want them to feel empowered and confident. While I am a natural light photographer, my editing and posing are on the moodier side and I think that’s what makes my work so unique.
What is your ideal client like?
I love the traditional wedding but I find myself more recently attracting clients that are down for some funky/weird/creative sessions. Someone who’s willing to allow me to come up with a concept and we tweak it to match their vibe for an engagement/wedding session.
What is your approach to photography?
I approach every couple differently. I think every story I tell is so unique and it’s my job to make sure that I photograph everyone’s story and love in a way that’s true and authentic to them. Whenever I first photograph a couple, I make sure that I know if they are goofy or can get a little weird and moody because I never want to put a couple in a pose that isn’t “them”. I want them to feel as if I’m their best friend for the hour or the day of their wedding and I’m just simply following them around with a camera to capture them as they are – authentic and pure. As a client once stated, “You got such a good mix of fun, artsy, romantic, and classic portraits.”
