Tell us a little bit about your business.
Steel City Florals was established in 2018 out of a love for nature and decorating life’s biggest moments. We specialize in unique wedding and event florals. Weddings and events range from full service (ceremony, reception, wedding party flowers – requiring set-up/breakdown) to smaller pick-up orders. All orders are custom designed to exceed our client’s expectations. We offer products on a sliding scale to ensure you have beautiful flowers that work within budget. We believe our designs truly transform a space with both positive energy and visual beauty. We believe in taking a sustainable approach to floristry, using foam-free alternatives, growing our own material, foraging for materials, buying locally grown flowers, and composting waste. We focus on creating lasting relationships with our clients and seek opportunities for collaboration within the Pittsburgh community.
What makes your work unique?
Steel City Florals arrangements are catered to each individual couple; the same design is never done twice! Using my horticulture knowledge and experience, I love using foraged, in-season, home grown and locally sourced materials. I’ve come to learn one of my favorite parts of the process is individualizing each couple’s color palette to fit with their vibe and their personalities perfectly! One of our biggest goals is to continue implementing as many sustainable practices as we can into our business for hopes of a greener future.
What is your ideal client like?
Our ideal client is anyone willing to collaboratively work with us and someone who is opened to creative freedom! I love putting my own twist on everything. Of course, I really appreciate inspiration photos and color palettes as help to get a sense of what you are looking for, but when a client says that they trust me and my vision with the basic information they gave, that’s when the best results happen!
How do you work with couples to bring their wedding dreams to life?
We start with an initial consultation to get an idea of what you are looking for and to see if we are a good fit to work together. Next, we start to build out your planner, color palette, and flower choices. I like to make sure my clients are very involved in the planner creation process so that we don’t miss any important details and they know exactly what they can expect out of us. We will help you set up a budget and payment plan that works for you, and we do one last check-in two weeks before the wedding! Of course, we are always available for an email, phone call or Zoom throughout the entire process leading up to the big day!
