Tell us a little bit about your business.
Solasta Photography was born from my love of the sun, warmth, and photographs that feel like pure joy. I’m Caitlin, a Pittsburgh wedding photographer, former teacher, professional light chaser, and firm believer that every hour of your wedding day is golden. My work lives somewhere between beautifully composed and completely unscripted. I’ll step in with direction when you need it, disappear into the background when you don’t, and leave room for the moments you could never plan. The result is colorful, light-filled imagery that feels polished without losing the people, personality, and emotion that made the day
yours.
“Solasta” means “of the sun,” but this is Pittsburgh. I know better than to promise sunshine. What I can promise is feeling the warm, bright, relaxed, first day of vacation energy, no matter what the forecast decides to do.
What makes your work unique?
I don’t believe you have to choose between wedding photos that look incredible and wedding photos that actually feel like you. My approach blends candid storytelling with thoughtful direction and an editorial eye. I’m always watching for beautiful light, interesting composition, genuine interaction, and the tiny moments happening when you’ve forgotten about the camera entirely. When a little direction will make a photograph stronger, I’ll give it. When the moment is already perfect, I’ll stay out of its way. My editing is true to life with the warmth, color, and vibrancy Solasta is known for. Greens stay green, skin looks like skin, and your photographs still feel like your wedding, just in its very best light.
What is your ideal client like?
My couples want beautiful photographs, but they also want to actually enjoy the wedding they planned. They care deeply about photography, choose their vendors intentionally, and then trust those people to do what they do best. They’re willing to follow me into great light, try something that might feel a little ridiculous for ten seconds, and trust that there’s a reason I’m asking. You absolutely do not have to be comfortable in front of a camera. In fact, most of my couples tell me they aren’t. Give me your trust, show up as yourselves, and I’ll take care of the rest. And if you plan on absolutely tearing up the dance floor? We’re probably going to get along very well.
What is your approach to photography?
Part photographer, part calm in the chaos, part former teacher who can organize a wedding party in record time.
Long before the wedding, I help build a photography timeline that gives us everything we need without turning your day into one long photoshoot. On the wedding day, I’ll give you clear direction when you need it, keep things moving when we have somewhere to be, and know when it’s time to put the camera on silent mode and simply let something happen. I use movement and prompts to create natural interaction rather than putting you into stiff poses, but I’m also not going to leave you standing there wondering what to do with your hands. You get the freedom to be yourselves and the direction to look incredible doing it. Most importantly, I want you present for your wedding. Twenty years from now, I don’t just want you to remember what everything looked like. I want the photographs to remind you what it felt like to be there.
