Tell us a little bit about your business.
RBW Stationery & Events is a Pittsburgh-based custom stationery and event branding studio specializing in wedding invitations, paper goods, signage, and thoughtfully designed wedding day details. We create everything from save the dates and invitation suites to menus, place cards, table numbers, seating displays, welcome signage, and custom installations.
Our approach goes beyond designing individual pieces. We consider how each detail works together to create a cohesive experience – from the first piece guests receive in the mail to the details they encounter on the wedding day. We also guide our couples through the less glamorous but equally important parts of stationery, including production, assembly, postage, mailing, and wedding day logistics.
You don’t need to know every detail of your stationery, print methods, invitation etiquette, or exactly what you want before reaching out – that’s what we’re here for. Some of our favorite projects have started with a color palette, a venue, a fabric swatch, a napkin with a sketch, a photograph, or simply a feeling a couple wanted their wedding to have. In the most simplest of terms – show us your gallery of screenshots (we know you have them). We’ll figure the rest out!
We believe wedding stationery should feel personal, not intimidating. Whether we’re creating one meaningful piece or developing details from the save the date through the wedding day, we want the finished work to feel unmistakably connected to the people we’re creating it for.
What makes your work unique?
We bridge the space between stationery and event design. Rather than treating invitations, signage, and wedding day details as separate purchases, we look at the entire celebration and find thoughtful ways to carry a couple’s story and aesthetic throughout it.
We’re also very hands-on. Our work may incorporate custom artwork, specialty printing, unexpected materials, dimensional details, wax seals, textiles, or large-scale displays, but beautiful design is only part of the equation. We think about how something will be produced, mailed, displayed, installed, and experienced by guests. That combination of creativity and practicality allows us to create details that are beautiful, personal, and genuinely functional.
What is your ideal client like?
Our ideal clients care about the details but don’t necessarily want to manage all of them themselves. They appreciate beautiful design, craftsmanship, and personalization, and they’re excited by the idea of creating something that feels distinctly their own rather than selecting a design exactly as they’ve seen it before.
They also value collaboration and trust. Some couples come to us with a very clear vision, while others simply know how they want their wedding to feel. We enjoy both. Our role is to listen, ask the right questions, and translate those ideas into something cohesive and meaningful.
How do you work with couples to bring their wedding dreams to life?
We begin by learning about the couple and the celebration they’re creating – the venue, colors, fashion, florals, overall atmosphere, and even the small details they’re especially excited about. From there, we develop a creative direction and guide them through design, materials, printing methods, wording, quantities, and all of the decisions that can otherwise make custom stationery feel overwhelming.
Collaboration is also an important part of our process. Many of our couples work closely with wedding planners who have helped them shape and articulate their vision, and we love partnering with those professionals to ensure the stationery and wedding day details feel connected to the larger event design. Having worked as a wedding planner earlier in my career, I understand that relationship from both sides and value the insight, organization, and creative perspective a planner brings to the process. We also work closely with venue wedding teams and have longstanding relationships with local venues, which is especially valuable when planning signage, displays, delivery, installation, and other logistical details.
As the wedding approaches, we can carry that design language into the wedding day through menus, place cards, table numbers, signage, seating displays, and other custom details. Depending on the project, we also manage assembly, mailing, production coordination, delivery, and installation. Our goal is to make the process collaborative and enjoyable for our couples while working seamlessly with the team of professionals bringing their celebration together.
