Tell us a little bit about your business.

Hi, I’m Megan McGreevy and I have been photographing weddings since 2014! I was born and raised in Pittsburgh and I feel that the most amazing couples have their weddings in and around the Pittsburgh area. I love working with couples and photographing them in their favorite spots for their engagement sessions and I love all of the venues around the area. I also love to travel and photograph weddings all over the US.

I am grateful that I am able to have this career full-time and each year as I meet and photograph new couples getting married, I continue to learn and grow and evolve my craft.

I love getting to build a wonderful relationship with my couples. I really want them to be proud and excited that they hired me. Being pulled aside from wedding guests and the wedding party to hear that I made their day so fun and that I am doing a great job never gets old and honestly fuels my fire. I have a passion for photographing love stories and creating really pretty photos that never go out of style.

What makes your work unique?

What I have been told is that people love how fun and comfortable I make them, especially when it comes to photographing them. I think that is so important even before getting that pretty picture!

When looking back at the photos of my couples, and seeing the huge grins, and being able to hear the excitement and laughter through a photo, and feeling the love and romance between two partners…that is what I am most proud of.

What is your ideal client like?

My ideal wedding client is someone who not only I vibe with from the start, but someone who puts their trust in me to help guide them and capture all the important elements that go into their wedding day. They value photography and have put the effort into seeking out someone who loves what they do and loves making their couples excited and happy. They know photography is one of the only tangible things they can look back on for years to come.

A bonus for me is someone who has unique elements at their wedding, someone who isn’t afraid to express how much they love their partner, and who is ready to have a blast with me!

What is your approach to photography?

I love to inform my potential couples about how I work a wedding day and what to expect, as well as answer any of their questions and ease any worries they may have about their big day. I want them to know how important it is to research your wedding photographer, to see full wedding galleries to get a taste of what is photographed throughout the day, and, most importantly, to let my personality shine to give them the full picture of who they will be working with, and the connection and relationship we will be building.

My approach is to show them my excitement for their unique and special love story and to make them feel as relaxed and as comfortable as possible. This includes me being weird and silly, and making my couples laugh and loosen up. I want to capture real emotions and moments, but giving prompts and direction is important for a couple to feel comfortable. I never want to leave awkward silences or have my couple be unsure of what to do next.

Each couple has a completely unique day and I shoot to reflect that. I photograph the day the way it happens while also making sure to get the gorgeous and special photos you want. Wedding photography is so much more than just being there with a camera. It’s telling the story of your day, from details, to getting ready, through the ceremony, portraits, and reception, and all of the small and special moments in between.
