Tell us a little bit about your business.
I started learning about photography during my senior year of college. I went to the University of Pittsburgh and received my BA in Architectural Studies with a Minor in Studio Arts. I took Intro to Digital Photography as an elective to learn how to use a new camera I had recently purchased, and I was hooked! Over the years, my business has evolved to Lauren Renee Photography, but I still dabble in other creative outlets.
What makes your work unique?
I feel the difference between a good photo and a great photo is based around the connection and chemistry between the photographer and subject. As a photographer, it is my job to make sure that my client feels relaxed and confident, while having a great time in front of my camera. One of the greatest parts of this job is connecting with my clients: learning about their families, loved ones, adventures, dreams, and future plans. It is magical and inspiring. When you hire me to capture those special moments in your life, I try to foster relationships that truly transform you from a client to lifelong friend, which I feel is such a wonderful and unique aspect of my business!
What is your ideal client like?
My ideal client is someone who is hiring me because they are also passionate about creating a legacy of images to cherish for a lifetime. I want my client to feel confident in their investment and feel like they have really connected with me as a person, and also with my style of work. I love it when clients come up with unique ideas and suggestions about our sessions, and are ready to be adventurous and travel an hour into the woods, get their feet wet in a stream, and be ok with whatever spontaneity ensues. I love couples who are down to earth, but also know a thing or two about fashion trends.
What is your approach to photography?
My photography is heavily influenced by my architectural and design background. My method for capturing images is both photo-journalistic and editorial with a classic feel and an attention to detail. I always strive to create images that are unique to each client, while staying true and consistent to my clean, classic, light, and airy style.
Consistency is key, and my images are edited to be timeless, simple, and classic!
