Tell me a little bit about your business!
I transplanted to the Pittsburgh area from Central, IL and I’m loving my new home in western PA! My passion for weddings has blossomed over a number of years and I have a fine art degree in photography. My bread and butter is working with couples. Pretty much any love story – they’re all worth telling.
At Kaitlin Powell Photography, I’m inspired by natural light and all the unique things that it touches, powered by wrinkled noses and laugh lines, and I fully believe that love is in the details. I want to explore and experience every. single. detail. – right along with you from the beginning of your engagement all the way till the end.
What makes your work unique?
I pride myself in not being just another wedding vendor. Hopefully by the end of your engagement, you’ll consider me a friend! As your wedding photographer, you’ll get a personalized experience from me. I’m someone who will always have your best interest at heart, and who is looking forward to your wedding day almost as much as you are. I will cry when you walk down the aisle and say your vows. I’ll cheer when you have your first kiss, and dance with you when the music starts. And at the end of the day, I promise to pour my heart and soul into real and timeless shots that will preserve the sometimes messy perfection of your life forever.
What is your ideal client like?
I work with and get along with just about everyone. My ideal client would be couples who value the art of photography and trust that they hired me for my technical and artistic expertise. Couples who are easy going and willing to try different things. People with a touch of goofy, whimsy, and curiosity who are willing to open the window of their hearts and let me have a peek inside.
What is your approach to photography?
My shooting style is relaxed. I feel that if I’m relaxed, you’re relaxed and that allows your personalities to come shining through. I’m passionate about real and authentic moments. There’s going to be lots of cuddling, eskimo kisses, organic movement, touching foreheads and holding hands while being stupid and weird (if that’s your thing). If you want to laugh, laugh. If you want to cry, cry. Forget I’m even there and just enjoy being with each other!
I strive to capture light in a romantic and artistic manner, while adding my own blend of modern and vintage charm into my editing style. At the end of the day, my favorite weddings are full of meaningful and personal details and moments. I just want to spend my time being surrounded by joyful people, celebrating a love story.
