Tell us a little bit about your business.
I’m Jess of Jess Vogelsang Photography. I’ve been a photographer for over a decade, working throughout Pittsburgh and the world. I am one part visual artist and one part storyteller.
My style is not for everyone. I challenge my clients to show up with a full heart, ready to tell their stories, honor their real lives, and share their love. If you’re ready to do that, I would be honored if you’d consider having me as your photographer. My promise to you will be the same – I will show up with my heart full and ready to tell your story, honor your life, and document your love.
What makes your work unique?
Time and time again my clients find my work after a long search and what always draws them in is the feeling. You can see the happiness, the tension, and the complete vibrance of a wedding day. My work is really centered on emotion, but in a way that is also artful. I love a bit of imperfection. I love drama. I love simplicity. All of that becomes a part of the stories I tell.
What is your ideal client like?
My ideal clients prioritize the enjoyment of their wedding and the experience of the day over perfectionism or time spent executing elaborate photo lists. They believe joy is the biggest aspect of beauty in the story we tell together about their wedding day. It’s chic, but with heart.
What is your approach to photography?
Photography for me isn’t really about photography. It’s about exploring the art of life in a tangible way – the creation, the passion, and the love. I believe in co-creating with each of my clients to help bring their vision to life without losing sight of their story. I combine my love of editorial work to the world of photojournalism to bring their love to art in an emotionally evocative way. I want clients to feel when they see the art.
