Heinz Chapel, a stunning landmark nestled in the heart of Pittsburgh’s Oakland neighborhood, welcomes all couples looking to celebrate their love. Heinz Chapel is open to couples of all faiths, interfaith traditions, backgrounds, and LGBTQ+ orientations, encouraging each to incorporate their unique beliefs and customs. And no, you don’t have to be affiliated with the University of Pittsburgh to say “I do” here!
While the Chapel offers a timeless, traditional setting with stained glass windows and an English-style garden, it has also embraced modern conveniences to make ceremonies even more personalized for up to 400 guests. Recent updates include expanded musical selections, allowing couples to request their favorite songs performed by the Chapel’s on-site organist. Also, we provide the comfort and convenience of a climate-controlled building, separate waiting areas for the wedding party, and a team of friendly and knowledge wedding coordinators.
We take reservations at least 2 months and no more than 2 years in advance. You do not need to be affiliated with the University of Pittsburgh to be married at Heinz Chapel.
What makes your space unique?
Heinz Chapel welcomes all denominations and faiths, as well as interfaith, civil, and LGBTQ+ weddings. Our experienced staff is ready to guide you from your first site visit through your walk down the aisle. You’ll have two coordinators and a skilled organist for your rehearsal and ceremony, as well as dedicated ceremony parking. Our couples get to choose and provide their own officiants, which enables them to create a custom ceremony experience. We are just steps away from a variety of wedding reception venues and hotel accommodations The University Club, which is located right on campus. As the exclusive wedding reception venue on the University of Pittsburgh’s Oakland campus, The University Club enjoys a unique partnership with Heinz Chapel. If you say “I Do” at Heinz Chapel, and reserve The University Club for your reception, your ceremony fee at the Chapel will be waived.
