Tell us a little bit about your business.
I’ve always had a strong love for anything that required creativity or art. As a creative outlet throughout college, I opened up a small online shop selling hand-painted canvas signs in 2015. After creating many pieces for family and friends, I grew to love the art of hand-lettering more and more. Once I got engaged, I was SO excited to design and create all of the signage for my own wedding day. From then on, my passion for creating hand-lettered signage, particularly in the wedding and event industry continued to grow, and CalligraBre Sign Co. was formed!
When I noticed the trend of using vintage and ornate mirrors as wedding day signage, I was so in love! I noticed there was a need for a calligrapher who also provided the rental of mirrors/signs. So, I began searching, finding, and collecting all different sizes and styles of mirrors and signs. I now have a huge rental inventory that couples can choose from.
CalligraBre Sign Co. strives to be a one-stop-shop for all wedding and event signage needs. Already have some pieces that you’d like me to write on, and don’t need to rent? No worries! In addition to mirror rentals, I also provide a la carte hand-lettering services, acrylic packages, calligraphy paper scrolls, and more!
Today, CalligraBre Sign Co. is a growing woman-owned, inclusive business that provides wedding and event signage to those in the greater Pittsburgh area. My hope is to help couples make their day even more beautiful than they ever could imagine!
What makes your work unique?
I am a self-taught “lefty” calligrapher who puts her heart and soul into each rental item and lettering piece. Each sign is done freehand, meaning no two pieces are the same! You and your partner are unique…your wedding day signage should be too!
CalligraBre Sign Co. is the only known small-business in the Pittsburgh area that offers a “Full-Service Wedding Rental Package”, which includes: your seating chart, welcome sign rental, medium sign rental, two small sign rentals, as well as a card box and table numbers. All sign rentals include the hand-lettering services, as well as the easels and stands, plus delivery, set up, and teardown of rental items at the event venue.
Wedding planning should be fun, not stressful. So, instead of worrying about your event signage, you can sit back and relax knowing that I’ve got it covered.
What is your ideal client like?
Excited, friendly, and kind, with an appreciation for things that are done by hand. And, if you enjoy puns, (like my business name), that’s a bonus!
I take a lot of time creating and designing each piece. Due to each item being hand-written, nothing is perfect, so if you’re looking for perfection, we may not be the best fit. But, if you’re looking for something to stand out from other wedding signage, all done by hand, I am your gal! I take pride in the fact that I do not trace or copy computer-generated font styles. My signature hand-lettered fonts are what make CalligraBre Sign Co. so special and unique!

How do you work with couples to bring their wedding dreams to life?
Like many other aspects of the wedding planning process, making decisions about all of your wedding day signage can be overwhelming. I try to ease this process by communicating with couples, making suggestions, and providing them with examples of my recent work to help streamline their ides. Although each couple is different, I allow my clients to be as involved in the design process as they want to be. While many of my clients take a back seat and trust me to create their pieces, some prefer to make suggestions or requests about style and design, which I take into consideration and do my very best to accommodate. I am always happy to chat with clients if they feel stuck, or make suggestions about wording and design. I love working with clients who stretch my creative limits and who help me grow as an artist.
