Anne Troxel Photography

Tell me a little bit about your business!

Well hello there, I’m Anne, of Anne Troxel Photography! I grew up about two hours outside of the city, but after attending art school, I realized I simply could not live somewhere that doesn’t have a French bakery within a thirty-minute driving distance. I’ve now called Pittsburgh my home for almost ten years!

I believe anything worth doing is worth doing to your best ability, and that the smallest details add up to amazing wholes. I give my clients a worry free day, knowing that their wedding is in the hands of someone who will capture it authentically and artfully. I’m going to smile with you the first time you see yourself in the mirror on your wedding day. I’m going to cry during your speeches, and sing with your first song together. I’m here to be your number-one hype woman to make you and your wedding day feel like a dream.

I am a LGBTQ+ owned business and an animal lover. When I’m not photographing weddings or commercial projects, I’m either snuggling with our revolving door of foster kittens, making wood-fired pizzas, or digging in my herb and flower garden.

What makes your work unique?

I truly believe that every person, every soul, and every love story is beautiful and worth telling. My approach is to take photographs, but I love to think of them as little poems or love notes to every subject. I want to make people feel like the absolute best version of themselves and show them just how gorgeous they are! I don’t believe in following trends for trends sake – I believe in creating timeless art that tells YOUR story.

I want to capture your essence. People are often nervous when you begin to photograph them, but I have no expectations for you – aside for you to simply be your authentic self! I want to capture your silly, your tender, your sweet, your love. I’ll guide you and your loved one to interact in natural, timeless ways to create art that will have the honor of living in your home and being a part of your family for generations to come. I don’t create for the now; I create for the forever.

What is your ideal client like?

My ideal clients are people who are best friends. My couples usually don’t decide to do a first look just for the photos but because they truly can’t wait to see each other and spend more time together. They want their love story recorded and retold romantically, with not only an emphasis on the perfect, but an abundance of silly moments included too. Their wedding collection isn’t going to just sit on a shelf or on a hard-drive; it’s going to be enjoyed and loved with family and friends.

What is your approach to photography?

My motivation is to create beautiful photos – authentic, emotional photos that showcase the genuine connections between my couples. I create images that make you laugh, tug at your heartstrings, and capture the moment forever. Here in Pittsburgh, we really have an abundance of incredible creatives. Part of my background is studio and fashion-based, and when photographing a wedding day I really treat it similarly. I’m art directing and curating, while working with a creative team to execute your vision. The way the cosmos in your bouquet dance with the breeze, the way your dress’s fabric levitates while spun, the way the sun emphasizes the lace across the sleeve – my eye is watching and capturing all of it.

Rave Reviews

It was a true pleasure to work with Anne. We aren't "picture people," and were nervous at the prospect of having a photographer. But, not only did Anne capture beautifully composed photos), she also caught the "real us" and helped our love shine through. These are pictures we will cherish for the rest of our lives.

Anne worked with my partner to plan an amazing surprise proposal and she captured it beautifully. These images will be something we look back on for years to come. Anne's work is timeless and truly showcases the emotions and love of the moment.

Anne was so wonderful to work with! She made us feeling very secure in knowing that we would be getting the shots we wanted. She was so great with the smallest details and beautifully crafted artistic shots, and captured every moment so beautifully! The images we got back were beyond what we could've imagined.
