Tell me a little bit about your business!
K. Flowers Designs is a full-service stationery design studio. We offer quality and attention to detail with all our designs. The primary focus is custom wedding invitation suites. By starting with a clean slate, couples can truly receive a one-of-a-kind design – something that is made specifically for them and is never duplicated. Your wedding day, and you, are unique. I am passionate about designing stationery unique to you.
I have been designing event stationery since 2012 and transitioned to the wedding industry at the end of 2014. I LOVE weddings! Every little detail…the flowers, her shoes, the bride's gown, watching the couple tear up as they exchange vows. Being in the presence of a couple that is deeply in love is so magical. To be able to create stationery to prepare all your guests for the beginning of your lives together is truly a blessing; I am living my dream.
Our services and products run the gamut. We can start off with your pre-wedding stationery (save the dates and or engagement announcements); design your one-of-a-kind invitation suite; and follow up with your day-of stationery, such as escort cards, seating charts, custom menu cards, wedding programs, flags, and all reception signage. The icing on the cake is after the wedding when you reach out to me to design your first holiday greeting cards, and even baby shower invitations down the line. The relationship doesn't have to end after your I dos.
What makes your work unique?
My work is unique because I am versatile. I am able to create a clean and chic design with gorgeous calligraphy but I am always ready for the client that wants something a little different. Perhaps engraved wood, a super glam acrylic invite, or a Thai silk folio with a stunning crystal brooch. Whatever your wedding and individual style, I can create something personal for you.
What is your ideal client like?
My ideal client has an appreciation for details. They are looking for unique, creative, and out-of-the-box designs. They are not afraid to try something non-traditional, but can certainly do something classic and chic as well. They are always up for a great laugh, have an easy going personality, but they are also very clear about what they like. My ideal client trusts the creative process and they are looking for someone who is able to communicate the essence of their love story and their style through paper.
What is your approach to design? How do you work with couples to bring their wedding paper dreams to life?
I absolutely love what I do. I love having the opportunity to work with couples as they prepare for one of the most important chapters of their lives. Wedding stationery is more than just paper. It is a reflection of you as a couple and an introduction to the happiest milestone of your lives together. My goal is to capture the essence of your love for each other, your individual personalities, and your style as a couple. I love getting to know my couples – how you met, how you got engaged, the things you have in common, and your hobbies. Getting details about your love story can be an important step that helps to shape your wedding invitation design.
Do couples choose from design templates or can you customize one based on their tastes?
My preference is creating fully custom invitation suites. Starting with a blank slate and building out the stationery suite that best reflects the personalities of my clients, the tone of their wedding, and the details that are important to them as a couple gives them a one-of-a-kind design. I believe that no two couples are the same; your wedding won't be like anyone else's, so your wedding paper shouldn't be either. All couples deserve to have something beautiful created JUST for them.
I do have a small collection of customizable invitation suites available as well. I realize that a fully custom design may not work for all budgets. My couples can customize their envelope colors, choose from a selection of font options, and add accessories such as pockets, belly bands, envelope liners, and monogram squares to their invitation suite. The designs are pre-made, but there are many ways to make the set more unique and personal.
What is the proofing process like?
The design and proofing process is pretty simple and it keeps both myself and the clients in the know at all times. After a consultation, all designs start off with a mood board. The tone and details are based on notes from our consultation and your inspiration photos. I also love to look at the venue to ensure that the stationery is in line with the decor and theme of the wedding. Clients then receive a few sets of design mockups to review. We sit and chat about each option and one of the designs is chosen. I allow adjustments even with the design that is chosen because I want to ensure that you are fully happy with all parts of the design. My clients have their choice of paper type, envelope color, printing style – the possibilities are truly endless with a custom design package.
Word proofing is next. I make all adjustments as requested and we begin our rounds of proofing. Three proofing edits are included with each set. Couples have the opportunity to tweak wording, fonts, etc. Each proof is sent digitally, and there is generally lots of communication throughout this phase. Once you are fully happy with every aspect of the design, your invites are prepared for printing. Then, I get to see everything come to life! I assemble and embellish each invitation in-house, with careful attention to detail, to ensure a beautiful end product.
