Tell me a little bit about your business!

Hi!  I’m Adam Michaels and I’ve been a wedding photographer for a couple years and am loving every minute of it!  I used to be an accountant (definitely not as fun) but came into photography after traveling around the world and then deciding it was time to come back home to Pittsburgh.  That's when Adam Michaels Photography was born!

What makes your work unique?  Why should brides and grooms hire you?

I think what sets my photography apart from others is is my use of surroundings.  Almost all of my inquiries come from brides or grooms who love my use of different environmental backdrops, such as cityscapes, landscapes, and sunsets to help tell their story.  Another important piece to my photography is the relationships that I build with my couples.  I have a pretty easy-going personality, which helps my brides and grooms feel comfortable, which always leads to the best pictures!

What is your ideal client like?

My ideal client is anyone who really wants to have a great wedding.  On the wedding day, the last thing I want to have to do is feel like I am pulling teeth to ask anyone to do any photos.  Normally, when couples choose me to be their wedding photographer, they want to have awesome photos to look back on for the rest of their lives.  And when couples trust our vision and want great photos, it's the best thing ever.

How would you describe your photography style?

My photography style is definitely very clean with a focus on making my couples “pop”.  My goal is to put my couples in the most beautiful place and help them look amazing.  I’m always on the lookout for light direction, the surroundings, and posing to make sure everything looks its best.  That way, the couples can relax and only focus on having a good time because they know me and my team are taking care of everything else.

What techniques do you use to help clients feel comfortable with you and in front of the camera?

Almost everyone comes in a little nervous, as most people do not have a lot of experience posing as a couple or being in front of the camera.  So one of the first things I always do is let them know my number one job is to help them look their absolute best, so don't worry about a thing.  I’ll also find out if they have a “side” they like best and then I’ll show them a couple ways of posing that are the most flattering.  I think that step is really important because then they don’t have to guess or try to figure out what to do and they can feel confident that everything they are doing looks great.

What emotions do you think your images evoke?

When people see any of my wedding pictures I want them to say “That must have been the best day ever!”  Often times, my brides, grooms, and their families will reach back out after the wedding, telling me how the images take them right back to their favorite memories.  That’s when I know I did my job because they are able to relive and feel all of those awesome emotions.

What is your approach to editing?

My approach to editing is to keep it clean, timeless, and well lit.  As mentioned above, when I shoot, I do my best to look for locations and poses that are the most flattering for the couple.  That way, the images coming out of the camera are looking really good and, editing-wise, I will only need to do some little enhancements here or there to make sure everything is looking its best.

What other items do you offer?

We always deliver every wedding in a beautiful online gallery.  My couples always prefer delivery this way because it makes sharing with friends and family so much easier.  The gallery we use lets me organize all of the photos, so it’s super easy to find any picture from any part of the day.

We also offer a print release so couples are free to print their own images or make their own albums.  But most couples come back and have us make them a professional wedding album or go with one of our awesome canvas or metal prints.
