Burgh Brides: A Pittsburgh Wedding Blog
Burgh Brides is an online publication dedicated to inspiring, showcasing, and celebrating Pittsburgh weddings. I love to show off the unique nuptials that take place in this great city, as well as to inspire brides and grooms to create their own extraordinary day. I share steal-worthy ideas, connect couples with awesome vendors, help soon-to-be newlyweds plan a stress-free wedding, and highlight the love that is all across these three rivers.
So why a Pittsburgh wedding blog? Head to my very first post to find out! Then watch this video to find out even more about why Burgh Brides is SO special!
Hi! I'm Victoria. So nice of you to stop by!
I think I’ve always been fascinated by weddings. As a little girl, I would force my little sister and younger cousin to play “wedding.” This usually consisted of dressing ourselves up in our great grandmother’s clothes and jewelry and marching down the hallway/make-shift aisle, carrying silk flowers as one of us sang “Here Comes the Bride.” Since I was the oldest, I always got to be the bride, of course.
Fast forward to college graduation. Neuroscience bachelor’s degree in hand, I told my parents I wanted to become an event planner. After picking their jaws up off the ground, quickly calculating how much money they had just wasted on a degree I had no plan to use, and then realizing being happy was more important than anything else, they told me to pursue my dream. Parents are great like that, aren’t they?
I’ve been in the wedding and event industry ever since. For over a decade, I was in the Marketing & Communications department at Carnegie Mellon University and I worked as both an event planner and a communications coordinator. I also spent several years working for one of the premier wedding planners in Pittsburgh, as both a wedding planner and event and project designer. I tried my hand at starting my own wedding planning company, but found my ultimate passion was in sharing ideas and writing. Hence, Burgh Brides was born. In September 2017, it became my full time baby. Yep, I'm a full time bona fide blogger and it's the best.job.ever.
When I’m not busy blogging or shouting from the rooftops how glorious this city and its weddings are, I am wife to a handsome tech wizard/wannabe professional mountain biker, Justin, and mom to a 150 pound Italian mastiff/beast dog, Kane. They both have my heart.
I love anything sparkly, could eat cupcakes for every meal, get giddy around fresh office supplies or travel-sized anything, and I watch more TV than I care to admit. Oh, and I have an unhealthy obsession with weddings.
