Today’s wedding at The Pennsylvanian combines romantic vintage vibes with modern day wedding trends for a look that is the absolute best of both worlds. Throwback feels initially came from Kaitlyn’s Badgley Mischka wedding dress from Bridal Beginning that featured a HUGE beautiful bow in the back. She topped off her antique-inspired look with a custom made hair piece, birdcage veil, and stunning makeup by Valarie Panei for an oh-so-chic look. After a traditional church ceremony, the newlyweds celebrated with family and friends at the ever gorgeous Pittsburgh wedding venue The Pennsylvanian, which was dressed with rentals from Eventioneers and lighting by EF Lighting. Blossoms by Jilliann helped to bring a fresh style to the space with tons of greenery and florals in pops of rich burgundy. Wedding must haves like a classic wedding cake with bow details and a Pittsburgh cookie table were offset by contemporary twists, such as a Pirates jersey “guest book” and a popcorn bar. We promise…these images from Sky’s the Limit Photography and this footage from Just Hitched Films will have you wanting to plan a “yesterday meets today” inspired wedding too!
About the Couple
We met on May 3rd, 2014. Victor’s Saturday afternoon started out just as many others in May had – sitting around the fire having a few cold ones with friends. His friend, Paul, had some friends who were out exploring the North Shore and suggested that they head down there for a new change-up. They decided to head to McFadden’s and circled the bar, in search of their buddies. As luck would have it, instead we bumped into one of my friends that I was at the Pirate’s game with. Then, he spotted me. He thought to himself, “I at least have to say hi and give this a shot.” He approached me and from that point on, we were lost in conversation.
Victor and I got engaged on August 5th, 2017. The evening before, we were at a Pirates game with family. At one point, Victor excused himself to go to the restroom. He came back 20 minutes later saying that he ran into a friend of his who does promotions for the Pirates, and that he won a a behind the scenes tour of PNC Park the following morning and asked if we’d all want to go, and we agreed. Since there were 10 spots, Vic texted his parents to see if they’d be interested as well. Well, rain delay after rain delay that night and the game wasn’t over til around 1 a.m., followed by the Chicago concert which went until 2 a.m. As it got later and later, I started to re-think whether or not I really wanted to wake up at 7 a.m. to come back to PNC Park. Vic and I already had plans to go to brunch later that day, so I threw on a sundress and piled back in the mini van with my parents and younger brother. During the tour, we were able to see the press area, the underground batting cages, and inside the Pirates dugout. As a Pirates fan, it was really neat. At the end of the tour, Vic and I walked over to home plate to get a picture, where he got down on one knee and proposed! I was in such shock that I can barely remember everything that was said, but I do remember that I said yes! Sure enough, everyone was in on it – Victor didn’t really win a tour, but instead he planned a private tour for us and our families months in advance.
About the Wedding
I would describe our wedding as classic and elegant, with a touch of romance and vintage flare. Our wedding reception look was inspired by our dream venue, The Pennsylvanian. I added unique touches by incorporating bows on our wedding cake and napkins, as well as the Pittsburgh landmark table numbers and a Pirates jersey in lieu of a guest book. I also wanted to create a romantic ambiance with candelabras and greenery instead of typical tall floral arrangements. We also wanted our cake to be placed in the middle of the room to add to the decor.
Favorite Moment
One of the very best was walking down the aisle and seeing Victor for the first time. Another special moment was when we exchanged our vows that we had written for each other. Lastly, since we were trying our best to soak in every moment, at one point during our reception while everyone was dancing, Victor and I stepped back to look at everyone who was there celebrating our special day. It was a very special and meaningful moment in our day to see everyone we cared about the most in one room.
Do you have the exact Etsy page for the table numbers? I have been looking for something like this for awhile. The link just takes you to the home page of Etsy.
I’m sorry but I don’t! There are some local designers who could make something like this for you though. Check out Fresh Cut Prints in our Vendor Guide.
