Vintage Fall Wedding at Bramblewood

by Burgh Brides October 7, 2019

With pumpkins, vintage dĂ©cor, and farm-fresh florals galore, Emma and Tyler’s fall wedding at Bramblewood is sweeping us off our feet. Inspired by their love of history, the couple incorporated many antique elements into their design, such as old-world inspired wax seals on their invitations, plush blue velvet chairs for the sweetheart table, and a variety of other throwback details. These pulled their contrasting color palette of maroon, navy, and greenery with accents of peach, white, and blush together nicely. Being the bride’s childhood home, this farm Pittsburgh wedding venue was the perfect location for these two to tie the knot with scenery like none other! Guests walked through a canopy of flowing white fabric then a set of vintage white wooden doors leading them to a beautiful lakeside ceremony. The charming aesthetic continued into the reception where the tablescapes were filled with flowers and pumpkins grown from the family’s very own farm. Everything about their celebration screams fall, but in such an elegant fashion! And if you’re a sucker for gorgeous golden hour photos, then prepare to be obsessed with the shots captured by Taila Nelson Photography. We’re here to say not only do we love their love for history, but that they’re totally making history…because this wedding is one you won’t soon forget!

About the Couple

It all started at a wedding! I was the maid of honor in my high school best friend’s wedding and Tyler was a groomsmen. We talked for a while at the reception and exchanged numbers. As they say, the rest is history. Tyler asked me out on our first date the next week and we dated for a little over three years.

Tyler proposed to me in Station Square! He took me out to brunch at The Grand Concourse for my birthday and had planned to propose on their giant, beautiful staircase but he chickened out…too many people watching! He then decided to pop the question after brunch while we walked by the river looking over the city. It was the perfect moment because it was just the two of us!

About the Wedding

Our wedding was vintage romance. I love history (so much so that I majored in it in college), so all things vintage are a win in my book. This – combined with the fact that I have always been a hopeless romantic just waiting for the day my Prince Charming would come and sweep me off my feet – came together to inspire the vintage, romantic feel of our wedding. The abundant florals were mainly maroon, navy, and greenery with accents of peach, white, and blush. To offset the florals, we opted for more pastel bridesmaids’ dresses in sage and lavender.

Having grown up on a farm, fall hayrides and pumpkins were a big part of my childhood and fall is my favorite time of year. I knew I wanted to incorporate pumpkins into our big day, so we decide to use my two favorite varieties of pumpkins. Jarrahdales are a beautiful shade of sage green and New Moons are big white pumpkins and they were both part of our tablescapes. Each guest table had a pumpkin “table runner “of 9 to 10 of these gorgeous pumpkins, all grown at Bramblewood and accented by our field-grown floral designs.

Bramblewood is not only my place of work but also my family’s farm and my childhood home. I feel so lucky to have been able to celebrate my wedding day at a place that means so much to me.

Favorite Moment

Our favorite moment was our first dance! We knew from the beginning of the planning process that we did not want to have that awkward first dance where you just kind of sway back and forth like it’s your high school prom! So we decided to take dance lessons at Arthur Murray Dance Studio and have them choreograph our first dance to the Haley Reinhart version of “Can’t Help Falling In Love”. We practiced for months and although we felt like we had it down, we were both super nervous about dancing in front of everyone. In the end, our practicing paid off and, minus a few hiccups that no one noticed but us, we nailed it! We couldn’t have been prouder of ourselves and were very ready to dance the rest of the night away!
