Ok, ok I know it’s practically spring. But I still have a few great winter features to show off! After a romantic beach proposal, Jessica and Jim opted for something a little different for their engagement session with Breanna Elizabeth Photography. A bit colder and more modern, their urban shoot took them from the North Shore to Washington’s Landing, soaking up all the hip, gritty spots in between. The dusting of snow provided just enough of a winter element to show off this season of Pittsburgh. I love how their e-photos are a bit atypical. Not all smiles and vibrant colors. Instead, a bit muted, a bit gritty, and a bit quiet, but still incredibly beautiful and representative of Jessica and Jim’s creative, modern styles. These two tied the knot back in August and I’m sure their wedding was just as lovely. Congrats you two! Hope you’re enjoying married life!
From the bride…
When and how did you two meet?
We actually met through mutual friends at a Christmas party, and immediately, there was chemistry between us. But the party was crowded and we pretty much mingled with our own friends and went about our way. A few weeks later, our friends were hounding the both of us to go out on a date because they thought we truly would be perfect together! We hung out with mutual friends a few more times until finally we caved. Although neither of us were looking for a relationship, the chemistry was undeniable. During the date, it honestly was one of the best times of our lives. We laughed and talked for hours at the Melting Pot, and even fooled a few of our friends by messaging them saying how horrible the date was. Later, we met them all out, and the joke was on them. The rest is truly history; he really is my world and I am is.
Juicy details on the proposal, please! Where, when, how?
Okay, so seriously a Bachelor/Bachelorette kind of proposal! We planned a vacation to Riviera Maya, just the two of us for a week. We couldn’t wait! We left the Saturday after Thanksgiving, and Jim was exhausted. He had spent all week finalizing the details of the custom engagement ring he was about to give me. Jim had scheduled a private dinner for the two of us on December 3, 2013. The setting was unbelievably romantic: lagoon to our left; beach shore to our right; in front of us, steps leading out to a little rock island where we were eating. We finished our awesome dinner, and I started heading back towards to the resort. But at that point, I realized Jim wasn’t talking anymore. I glanced at him and said, “Come on babe, where do you want to head to now?” He said, “Let’s just relax here. We do have the whole beach to ourselves for a little while. Let’s take it all in.” We walked to the shore where the steps started, and he grabbed my hand. I usually wear a ton of rings, but we were running late for dinner. I said, “I feel so funny without all my rings on.” He responded with one of the best one liners: “Well, let’s change that!” He told me how much he loved me and wanted to build a future with me. I was so shocked and I could barely breathe. It took a few seconds for me to catch my breath and take in this incredible proposal, but finally, I was able to spit out the words, “Yes, absolutely! I love you so much!” It was more than I could have ever dreamed. Jim can be such a romantic!
Describe the engagement session.
From the photographer…Jim and Jessica are both creative, and they wanted a more urban, modern vibe for their engagement session. Because of Jim’s love of sports, we started on the North Shore, near the stadiums. It was the perfect spot to incorporate the skyline of the city they love. We did not plan for the snow, but I think the dusting made the photos that much more magical! We ended our session at Washington’s Landing. I love this hidden gem! There is also a great bridge along the bike trail…and what is a Pittsburgh engagement without a bridge photo?
Great engagement photos.
thanks linda!
