The verdict is in…ultra violet is the 2018 Pantone Color of the Year! While this shade of purple was met with mixed reviews, Pantone credits ultra violet’s “originality, ingenuity, and visionary thinking that points us toward the future” as the reason behind the pick. As our world moves further toward discovery and innovation, the royal purple look-a-like “is symbolic of what is possible and continues to inspire the desire to pursue a world beyond our own.” Whether you love it or hate it, ultra violet is sure to inspire a year’s worth of runway fashions, interior decor, graphic design, and yes, even weddings.
Just how do you make this color work for you?
Take it from a ultra violet bride herself (yes, this was my wedding color back in 2013!), this classic purple makes for a beautiful big day palette! Pair it with silver or gold for a regal look, add lighter shades of lavender for an ombre vibe, or even fuchsia and magenta for a girly glam feel. However you play it, there’s lots of room for incorporation. Bridesmaids dresses, florals, linens, even signature drinks and uplighting, ultra violet looks good with any wedding detail!
