“Tying The Knot” Themed Wedding Shower

by Burgh Brides February 16, 2026

Alexis planned an aptly “She’s Tying The Knot” themed wedding shower at her parents’ home in the peaceful countryside, complete with a full spread of catered treats and plenty of moments of sweetness. Megan Alea Photography captured bright, stunning images both inside the home and around the beautiful property. The relaxed atmosphere allowed the celebration to unfold without the time constraints or space limitations of booking a traditional venue. Outdoors, guests enjoyed cocktails by the pool, while indoors, they were treated to a fully catered brunch. Bistro To Go helped bring Alexis’ vision to life, covering the kitchen island with delightful offerings, including a waffle bar, hors d’oeuvres, and baked goods. The bride-to-be was pampered by Taylor Rosemary Beauty for makeup and hair, wearing an ultra-chic dress from KHANUM’S featuring a low back and pearl strap details. Of the many personal touches throughout the day, flowers were arranged by Alexis’ mother in fluffy white bouquets with outstretched greenery, evoking the feel of flowers freshly plucked from the garden. A miniature white cake, decadently dripped in icing, was topped with delicate pink and white rosebuds, sealing the day with sweetness.

About the Couple

From the bride…

Colton and I fell in love at our alma mater, Penn State University. Our paths first crossed in the fall of 2019, thanks to mutual friends who thought we would hit it off. At the time, I was the captain of the coed cheerleading team, and Colton was making waves as a wide receiver for the Penn State football team. Our shared passion for sports and the vibrant campus life brought us together. It wasn’t long before we realized we had something special. From cheering on the sidelines to celebrating victories on the field, our love story blossomed through the lasting memories we created together.

After college, Colton and I bonded over new shared hobbies such as skiing, hiking, working out, traveling, and spending time with our two dogs, Vinny and Stella.

We spent four years together before Colton proposed at our favorite oasis, Nemacolin Woodlands Resort. He chose the perfect spot to pop the question – the back garden of The Chateau. Surrounded by the stunning landscape and serene ambiance of the garden, it was a moment straight out of a fairy tale. The beauty and tranquility of Nemacolin made our engagement truly unforgettable.

About the Shower

My wedding shower was the perfect blend of elegance and fun, set against the picturesque backdrop of my parents’ home. The theme, “She’s Tying The Knot,” was beautifully reflected in the invitations and signage, with a color scheme of bridal white accented by hints of pink. The decorations were light and cheery, with tables strategically placed near floor-to-ceiling windows, creating a seamless indoor-outdoor vibe that overlooked the summertime garden.

What made my wedding shower truly unique was the choice of venue. Hosting it at my parents’ home, nestled in the countryside on over twenty acres, provided stunning views and a relaxed atmosphere. Unlike other bridal showers that often feel rushed due to venue constraints, our home setting allowed for a leisurely celebration.

We transformed my parents’ kitchen and family room into a beautiful event space. The outdoor bar, set up by the pool, offered both “his” and “hers” cocktails, allowing guests to enjoy the warm, sunny day. People could move in and out as they pleased, creating a relaxed flow for guests. Lori from Bistro To Go helped bring my vision to life, arranging a beautifully laid-out kitchen island covered with hors d’oeuvres and baked goods.

Surrounded by my favorite women, I felt immense gratitude and thankfulness as they showered me with love. We played a variety of games, which brought about laughter and joy. My mom played a crucial role in making my vision come to life – I can’t thank her enough for everything she did.

Favorite Moment

My favorite moment of my bridal shower was when my best friend, Gina, gave me a custom-made charm for my bouquet. As I unpacked the gift, I was immediately surprised and brought to tears. My grandfather, who had been a crucial role model and more of a parental figure in my life, passed away suddenly just two years before my wedding plans. I shared an everlasting bond with him and wanted to incorporate this into my wedding somehow.

The bouquet charm was wrapped in pearls, my favorite gem and also my birthstone. At the top of it was a heart-shaped locket with a photo of my grandfather and me. This was a gift I will forever cherish. I was so grateful I could hold him close to my heart on my wedding day. I am incredibly lucky to have such a wonderful best friend who knew exactly how to make my day even more special.
