Inspired by the quintessential color of fall as well as the bride’s yellow gold engagement ring, today’s Omni William Penn wedding is as dreamy as they come. A palette of burgundy and metallics were richly accented by navy blue for a look that was seasonal but fresh. Pittsburgh wedding florist Blossoms by Jilliann gave life to the color scheme with bouquets and arrangements of peonies, ranunculus, roses, hydrangeas, and amaranthus. The florals popped against the ornate reception venue, whose otherwise timeless hotel ballroom was modernized by geometric vases and candle holders. The love story of Taylor and Josh is a classic one – they were high school sweethearts! So it’s only fitting that their next chapter began in a classic way as well. About the Couple
Our love story began when we were in high school – he was a sophomore and I was a senior. We met briefly at sporting events but didn’t really begin talking until Josh messaged me on Facebook in late fall of 2009. This was a bold move for a guy two years younger. We began exchanging messages frequently and meeting up between classes to chat. Josh even took an elective art class so that he could spend more time with me. We signed up for spring track, which is where their relationship really began to grow. We spent most of their free time together, and if we weren’t together, we were texting one another. Neither of us ever thought we would fall in love at such a young age.
Over the next seven years, we experienced the joyous highs and frustrating lows of young adulthood, yet we knew that we were meant to be each other’s lifelong partner. In preparation for our “happily ever after” to begin, Josh started designing the engagement ring of my dreams. We took a trip out west to Colorado to celebrate our dear friends’ wedding. Josh extended our vacation so he could incorporate time for his proposal. I was reluctant to get up before the sun rose to participate in the hike that Josh had planned, not knowing that it would turn out to be one of the best days of our lives. We hiked Hanging Lake in Glenwood Canyon, taking in the gorgeous views for a few hours. Josh surprised me by proposing with the lake as the beautiful backdrop. Of course, I said yes, and the rest is history!
About the Wedding
The wedding was very traditional and romantic. The colors were burgundy with accents of gold. I was inspired by the rich, bold fall color and my yellow gold engagement ring inspired the accents. The men wore blue three piece suits which helped their burgundy silk neck ties pop. The ball room was decorated with gold and cream linens. Each table had modern yet classy geometric-shaped candle holders and vases. There were red peonies, white garden roses, ranuculus, hydrangeas, and greenery in each table centerpiece. Gold chiavari chairs finished out the look, while the white uplighting set the romantic vibe.
Favorite Moment
My favorite moment of the day was our first kiss as husband and wife. I had waited 10 long years to marry my husband and that had been highly anticipated for far too long. Our celebration afterwards with family and friends – along with the smile that never left my husband’s face – was a close second.
