Having many out-of-town guests visiting for their wedding day, Melissa and David wanted to provide their friends and family with a enjoyable atmosphere and a great Pittsburgh experience. What better way to make that happen and show off the city skyline than with a PNC Park wedding! A modest color palette of navy and white combined with the simplicity of their wedding decor provided a clean, classic, and preppy feel. Fresh ivory blooms from The Blue Daisy Floral Designs paired with greenery made for the perfect minimalistic centerpieces, while the wedding bouquets popped against the gorgeous mismatched navy bridesmaid dresses. And speaking of dresses, Melissa’s Maggie Sottero wedding gown from Sorelle Bridal Salon with the bow back detailing was effortlessly elegant. With a packed dance floor and SO much dancing, there’s no doubt their guests enjoyed their time at this Steel City wedding, which went off without a hitch thanks to Exhale Events. Traditional but oh so fun, this wedding is going to be a new favorite thanks to love these images captured by Levana Melamed Photography and this video from Just Hitched Films!
About the Couple
Dave and I met in 2012 while we were both in a training class for our jobs. We were teamed up on a project so we spent some time outside of class working on it. Our project was voted first place and Dave likes to say that we won the project and he won my heart.
In 2017, I switched careers and we moved from Morgantown to Pittsburgh and we decided to buy a home together. The first Christmas in that home, my parents, sister, and brother-in-law came to help us celebrate. Christmas morning before we all started opening gifts, my mom said she wanted a picture of Dave and me with our dog, Riley, all together. Dave was on the couch and had Riley next to him, so I sat down on the other side of Riley. I was petting Riley and noticed she had a blue collar (she normally has a red collar). When I read the collar, it had “Will You Marry Me?” written on it with the ring attached and I immediately started crying. I looked at Dave and he was down on one knee and asked if I would marry him. I said yes of course! It was the best Christmas ever!
About the Wedding
We really wanted our wedding to have a timeless, clean, and almost preppy look to it. We both loved the color palette of navy blue, cream, and lots of greenery. The guys wore classic black tuxes and I let the girls pick out their own style of navy blue dresses . Our flowers were all white with some greenery and we had touches of navy blue and gold throughout the room. Mostly, we really wanted to give our guests a really fun party. Neither of us are from Pittsburgh originally (I’m from Texas and Dave is from upstate New York) so we picked PNC Park because we really wanted to wow everyone who was traveling. We had our cocktail hour in a room that overlooked the field and the Pittsburgh skyline and then had the reception in the Lexus Club. The food was amazing and our DJ kept the floor packed the entire night. It was a perfect day.
Favorite Moment
It’s hard to pick a favorite moment but the one that sticks out the most was dancing with my new husband at the reception. There is a picture of us dancing surrounded by all our friends and family and we felt so loved and were having so much fun. It was exactly what we wanted for our reception – all of our family and friends having a great time dancing and celebrating with us.
