With a muted color palette of cream, taupe, and a dusty mauve hue mixed with subtle art deco details, high school sweethearts Alexandra and Curtis created a wedding at the University Club that was modern yet timeless. Traditional elements, such as satin bows, complimented their wedding ceremony, where Alexandra walked down the aisle in a stunning wedding dress paired with a striking hair accessory from Clarissa Boutique and a cathedral length veil. In addition to the classic beauty of their venue, lucite chairs combined with geometric centerpieces provided a contemporary feel at their wedding reception. Alexandra and Curtis wanted their wedding to reflect their fun-loving personalities. With a packed dance floor and a personalized photo booth including memorabilia, it’s easy to see that this was one FUN party! You can instantly feel the love and joy surrounding these two in these photos captured by Megan Lee Photography and this video from Ricordi Productions. Prepared to be wowed!
About the Couple
It was March 31, a rainy spring morning. I buckled up for the long drive to Georgia, where I would be starting my last rotation in pediatric rehab with Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Curtis and I had been long distance for seven years! My mom and I were driving through my hometown of Murrysville on the way to Atlanta when she pulled off of the road and into Duff Park. “What are you doing?,” I asked her. She had tears in her eyes, and she handed me a card. My heart was racing as I opened it up. It was Curtis’s handwriting with directions for how to get to the tree we carved our initials into in high school. That’s when I knew it was happening! I ran the entire way to our spot where Curtis was standing in the pouring rain. He said the kindest and most wonderful things to me. When he got down on one knee, I got down onto my knees too (I don’t know why I did that), but we were both kneeling there in the rain and mud and my heart had never been more full. The proposal was so meaningful and thoughtful, and he still found a way to surprise me.
About the Wedding
We wanted our wedding to have a modern but timeless feel. We chose a muted color palette of cream, taupe, and dusty mauve. Subtle art-deco touches were seen in the invitations, the sequined bridesmaid dresses, and the geometric centerpieces. Traditional wedding details such as satin bows on the pews in the church, a trolley, and a cathedral length veil were paired with modern elements such as lucite chairs and candle holders at the reception. We wanted the day to reflect our fun-loving personalities too! We had a blast at our cocktail hour on The University Club’s rooftop terrace, which featured a nitrogen cocktail bar and a live musician. Our guests loved the light up glasses and bracelets we provided for the dance floor and they enjoyed sliders for a late night snack at 10 p.m. Our personalized photo booth was such a hit!! We made sure the photo booth was stocked with memorabilia from our high school, where we met and fell in love), our “rival” colleges (The Ohio State University and Penn State), our hometown (Pittsburgh), and our new home in Atlanta, where we have become fans of the Atlanta United Soccer Team.
We knew that the Grand Ballroom at The University Club was the perfect venue for our day. It exudes classic beauty with the large windows and gorgeous chandeliers without feeling stuffy. The dance floor was packed ALL night long, which is our favorite kind of wedding! It was so amazing to see our vision come to life and to celebrate our best day ever surrounded by all of the people we love.

It’s so hard to choose just one! If we must choose, we’ll say the first look.
