Year after year, our socks are always knocked off by the incredibly creative Pittsburgh engagement sessions that come through our Submissions inbox! We love a couple (and photographer!) who isn’t afraid to think outside the box and those engagement shoots that appeared on Burgh Brides in 2020 were no exception. From wow-worthy backdrops to statement-making images, here are our absolute favorites from this past year!
Super Fun Kennywood Engagement Session
Taryn and Howie had their very first date at the iconic Pittsburgh amusement park. Of course, they just had to return to the scene of the crime for their engagement session with Jeannine Bonadio Photography. The results were colorful, youthful, and definitely worth a second look!
Black Lives Matter Engagement Session
This summer was one unlike any other, with a global pandemic and the worldwide Black Lives Matter movement happening simultaneously. Donning masks and posing in front of the Black Lives Matter mural in downtown Pittsburgh, Laila and Joel used their engagement session with Adam Michaels Photography to document the historical time. More importantly, they wanted the images to express their hope for equality and justice for Black people across the world. Remarkably beautiful, these photos are most definitely a favorite from the past year.
Unique Pittsburgh Engagement Session on the Water
When your sister has a boat, you just HAVE TO take advantage of it for your engagement session! Jessica, Michael, and Michael Will Photography hopped aboard and explored Pittsburgh’s waterways. The downtown skyline is arguably the city’s best feature and they captured it from some really unique angles. This engagement session made such a splash that we wanted to showcase it twice!
Delightful Mellon Institute & North Side Engagement Session
Texas natives Sehrish and Zahid wanted to infuse some Steel City staples into their engagement photos with Shayla Hoff Photography. And that they did with what is likely the most recognizable of photo backdrops…the columns of Oakland’s Mellon Institute. The bright hue of Sehrish’s sari was a beautiful pop against the neutral-colored architecture and a lovely nod to her roots. It’s modern-meets-tradition and we are here for every frame of it.
Mt. Washington Engagement Session at Sunrise
The early morning wake up call was most definitely worth it because these images from Kristen Vota Photography are easily some of our favorites from 2020. Tanya and Cray headed to Mt. Washington at 6:45 a.m. for a sunrise engagement session. They watched the golden light come in over the city while taking in some breathtaking views. Another peek at this feature is sure to help you wake right up!
