While we love a healthy dose of color around here, sometimes all you need is a little bit of texture to really spice things up. This modern glam wedding inspiration, which was dreamt up by Angela Pro Design and fit in beautifully at the Wintergarden at PPG Place, marries a monochromatic color palette with varying textures, layers, and shapes. Shades of white, ivory, gray, and silver might seem like a fairly neutral blend of hues but when you pair it with details like letterpress stationery, also from Angela Pro Design, etched glassware from All Occasions Party Rental, and intricately decorated confections from Alex Robba Cake, this editorial really comes to life. Modern florals from Twig and Vine Floral Studio graced a table expertly set by Wanderlust Weddings and Events while pearl detailing via an encrusted ring box and floating hair accessories added romance. While the aesthetic of this wedding concept was striking, it may be the people of this styled shoot that hold the most meaning. In an effort to highlight and support the transgender community, Angela Pro Design specifically chose a transgender model to be the star of this show. Prior to transitioning, Davina was an established male model and bodybuilder. Now, she’s a self-proclaimed girly girl who wanted to show off her dream of an ultra glam wedding in her first shoot as a female model. Her positive attitude and courage to be her authentic self are just as inspiring as the perfectly styled details. This wedding shoot is proof that love isn’t bound by color, shape, size, orientation, or identity. It’s as pure as the color palette seen in these images from Linnea Marie Photography.
About the Shoot

I realized I wasn’t seeing openly transgender people represented in styled shoots, so I initiated one. I reached out to Ali from Wanderlust Wedding and Events, and she helped bring the vision to life.
My inspiration for the shoot was actually the model, Davina. Davina is a striking trans woman with an ever-positive attitude who loves girly glam and wants the world to see her as “one of the girls”. We wanted to show her as an ultra-glam bride – her dream.
Prior to transitioning, Davina was an established male model and bodybuilder. This shoot was actually Davina’s first time modeling as a woman – her “coming out” as a female model to the world, if you will!
Here’s a quote from Davina…
“I always felt different than everyone else. Growing up, I played golf, ice hockey, and various other sports. For the longest time, I used sports to hide who I was inside. After high school, I started modeling and competing in bodybuilding shows. I put a ton of time and dedication into both to keep my mind off of who I really was inside.
Seeing other girls live their best lives really made me feel awful. I knew that was me. I knew I was a girl, but I never thought I could find the courage to come out as my true self to the world. That really bothered me.
Finally, I felt like it was the right time for me to tell the world my secret. It would be tough coming out as Davina, but I told myself that my happiness needed to come first before anything else. At times, it’s been really hard. But the past few years as Davina have been the best years of my life.
When you become comfortable with your true self and learn to love and be happy with who you are, the rest of your life becomes much easier. I’m proud of the woman I have become and really hope to inspire other people to live authentically. After all, you only get one life.”
Aside from wanting to show trans community support within the wedding community, this shoot was also about challenging vendors to create interesting and beautiful visuals without the use of color, using different textures, layers, shapes, and shades of white. The word of the day was TEXTURE. The vibe of the shoot was soft, sleek, modern, romantic, glamorous, editorial, and included a mix of organic texture and smooth structure.
