Bright coral and calming periwinkle come together in this sweet and charming garden wedding. All of the oh-so-pretty details of Jill and Travis’s big day were expertly designed and executed by Olive & Rose Events. Kim, owner of the company and the couple’s wedding planner, was inspired by the ceremony and reception venue – Pittsburgh Botanic Garden – which held so much natural beauty that it didn’t take much to make it wedding day perfect. Summery pastels, vibrant pops of color, and earthy neutrals were the perfect palette for the sunny June day. Sapphire & Lace Design not only created brilliant bouquets for Jill and her bridesmaids, but they also infused a whimsical mix of rustic boho by the way of geometric terrariums, candlesticks topped with fresh buds, and a dose of sparkle with mercury glass votives. To really make this party their own, Jill and Travis used a custom wedding cake topper bearing their likenesses and took dancing lessons for a choreographed first dance that was truly all theirs. Love is totally blooming in this darling feature, captured by Madeline Jane Photography!
About the Couple
Travis and Jill attended Allegheny College together, but it wasn’t until they took a summer trip to Turkey that they really met. They actually had their first kiss outside of a hotel in Istanbul. The next school year, they started dating and six years later, the rest is history! Travis proposed right before New Years in 2015, on the bridge near Phipps Conservatory. He had a lock custom-made that said “Will You Marry Me”. After he proposed (and Jill accepted), they put the lock on the bridge and tossed the keys!
About the Wedding
The ceremony and reception were both outside on a gorgeous June day at the Pittsburgh Botanic Garden, so there was already so much beauty to work with. Both Olive & Rose Events and Sapphire & Lace Design worked to bring in bright, beautiful colors. The girls’ dresses were a gorgeous periwinkle blue and the bouquets were a beautiful mixture of pinks, greens, and blues. The centerpieces were an eclectic mix of vases, candle sticks, votives, and even mini terrariums with twinkle lights. A harpist played the ceremony processional and recessional, adding a really romantic vibe to the ceremony. Rather than the traditional wedding cake, the couple opted for a decadent cupcake tower and the cutest custom cake topper of themselves!
Favorite Moment
Our first dance was great! We worked really hard on it and we had so much fun learning together. I loved the whole setting of the wedding as well; it was relaxed and beautiful.
