Suggested Wedding Vendor Tipping Guidelines

by Burgh Brides June 11, 2026

While tipping wedding vendors is always at your discretion, the ranges below reflect common wedding industry standards when gratuity is not already included in a vendor’s pricing or service contract.

As you review these wedding vendor tipping guidelines, remember to prepare tip envelopes in advance, assign someone to distribute them, and refer to the full breakdown of what to know about tipping your wedding vendors so you can plan with confidence.

Wedding Planner / Coordinator / Designer

Suggested: 10 – 20% of their fee or a thoughtful gift

When: End of reception or after the honeymoon

Many planners receive tips when they’ve gone above and beyond, creating the ultimate experience for guests – especially when managing unexpected challenges or extensive coordination.

Photographer & Videographer

Suggested: 5 – 10% of the package total or $50 – $200 per person

When: End of the wedding day or when final deliverables are discussed

Tipping assistants and second shooters is suggested.

Hair & Makeup Artists

Suggested: 15 – 20% of services

When: Immediately after services are completed

This is similar to tipping at the salon.

Caterer / Waitstaff / Venue Staff

Suggested: 15 – 20% if not included, or flat tips per staff member

When: End of reception or through banquet management

Always confirm whether gratuity is already included in your invoice.

Bartenders

Suggested: 10 – 20% of bar services or a flat amount

When: End of the night

This is sometimes handled collectively through the bartending company.

DJ / Band / Musicians

Suggested:

DJs: 5 – 10% of their fee

Bands: $25 – $50 per musician

Ceremony musicians: $25 – $50 per person

When: After their performance

Officiant

Suggested: $50 – $100, or a donation if affiliated with a religious institution

When: Rehearsal, ceremony day, or shortly after

Consider whether extensive pre-ceremony work was involved, and increase accordingly.

Florist Delivery & Setup Staff

Suggested: $10 – $50 per person; lead florist may receive a flat tip for exceptional service

When: At delivery or during on-site setup

Transportation (Shuttles, Drivers)

Suggested: 15 – 20% if not included

When: After the final ride

Often added at the end of service or handled on a per-driver basis.
