Looking to have a fashion-forward engagement session? Take note from this gorgeous couple who came dressed to impress at their Mellon Park engagement session! With matching garments in the perfect shade of dusty blue, Carolyn and Brett implemented their favorite pigment into their beautiful pre-wedding photos. Carolyn was a knockout in a floor-length gown, which blew us away with it’s elegant movement and ethereal touch, while Brett sought to find the perfect sports coat to accompany his bride-to-be. The two shared fun and flirty moments traipsing throughout the park and taking in the romantic settings. But make no mistake – their style was still on point! Between their smiles, connection, and trendy touches, this post is a real doozy and we can’t wait for you to see these photos captured by Amber Marie Photography!
About the Couple
Brett and I met at Grove City College during my freshman year and his sophomore year. We were good friends and talked for a few months before Brett finally decided to ask me to be his girlfriend. This consisted of him pulling a note out of his football pads at the end of one of his games and giving it to me on the field.
The next couple years of our relationship consisted of me attending all of his football games and him coming to watch all of my golf matches. Flash forward to my senior year of college…I knew Brett was “the one” but I always said that I didn’t want to get engaged yet because I knew I still had to go to graduate school for two years, and I didn’t want to have to plan a wedding during that time. Little did I know, Brett had bought a ring and was planning to propose shortly after I graduated.
I graduated from Grove City College in May 2018 and I was going to be starting my first semester of grad school in August. The week before Move In Day, Brett decided to plan a weekend getaway for us at Tara-A Country Inn. I remember not wanting to go because I had so many last minute things to pack and get ready for prior to the start of my semester. I ended up going, of course, and it was a perfect weekend. On our way to dinner, I noticed that Brett was acting a little odd. I even called him out and said, “You’re acting like you’re going to propose or something.” He denied this and I was honestly just kidding because I was expecting him to wait and propose after I was finished with graduate school. Well, the next moments after that were quite a whirlwind. He walked me around the beautiful garden area and eventually got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. I sobbed uncontrollably and of course said “YES!” He also invited our parents to have brunch with us the next day, which was so perfect and made the weekend even more special.
About the Session
Brett and I have always loved the color blue, so when it came time for engagement photos, I knew that was the color that I wanted both of us to wear. I also always loved the idea of a long dress because of the elegance that it brings to the photos. I would describe our wedding theme as “elegant but fun” so I ultimately wanted our engagement photos to also feel like that.
Brett and I are known by our friends and family as the “best dressed couple who always has the best coordinating outfits.” We wanted to make sure we lived up to those expectations when it came to our engagement photos. Brett spent weeks finding the perfect sports coat to match my blue dress and I definitely think he nailed it! One of our wedding colors is dusty blue, so I also thought these photos would be perfect to display around our wedding venue.
Brett and I have always enjoyed taking long walks in parks. Neither of us had ever been to Mellon Park, but I always thought it looked like a beautiful location. It has beautiful places to walk and is also a perfect place to sit and relax. During our session, the park was fairly crowded and there was even a yoga class taking place. However, Brett and I felt like we were the only ones in the entire park. Amber made us feel so comfortable and we were able to just focus on each other. The session was filled with lots of laughter and smiles and we didn’t want it to come to an end. I think Amber definitely captured how much we enjoy being around each other and the love that we share. It was a day that we will always remember and cherish and we are so grateful to Amber for her amazing work!
