After 10 years of dating, Phil went BIG with his proposal to Keith. He enlisted the help of Sandrachile and Vintage Alley Rentals for a sweet surprise proposal overlooking the Pittsburgh skyline! What started as a seemingly normal photo shoot around the downtown area, turned into a styled lounge set up on the roof of a parking garage. Cool antique settees, old leather trunks, and vintage props set the stage for the EPIC moment that everyone (except Keith) knew was coming. Sandra sneakily posed the couple in a way that would allow Phil to grab the ring and get down on one knee while Keith wasn’t looking. When Keith turned around, there was Phil, ring in hand. They cried, they hugged, they kissed, and then they were greeted by friends and family for a rooftop champagne toast! Love can build a bridge and there’s no better place to celebrate love than a city full of them!
From the photographer…
Philip and Keith have been together for almost 10 years. Keith is really into weddings, and the commitment itself, which is why there have been a few jokes about proposing. Finally, this February, I got contacted by Phil to help him plan a proposal.
The initial idea was to use the excuse of a photoshoot around downtown Pittsburgh, and to pop the question somewhere around there. But considering how busy it can get, I suggested a rooftop instead.
The day of the proposal, we walked around downtown, photographing them being in love, and we ended in a lounge set up on a rooftop, with an amazing view of some iconic Pittsburgh sights. Phil hired the services of Vintage Alley, a sustainable company dedicated to styling through upcycling and giving character to celebrations like this one with vintage furniture and decor. They extend the life of furniture and items that otherwise would end up being wasted.
Once at the lounge, I asked them to make “the hipster pose” – to stand, first, looking at me, then looking at each other, and finally, to pose back to back, looking in opposite directions.
Little did Keith know that on the other side Phil was not looking to the other direction, but was discreetly reaching for a ring and getting ready for the speech of his lifetime. Keith was totally caught by surprise, so much that he ugly cried the entire time! After he said yes, their closest family and friends joined to hug them and congratulate them, but most of all, to toast to love with an iconic Pittsburgh landscape at their backs.
I love EVERYTHING about this!
it’s sooooo adorable!
