With a soft lavender and gray color palette, this Pittsburgh Field Club wedding is the epitome of feminine romance. It was exactly the wedding Jacquelyn had always dreamed of. Ever since she was a little girl, this self-proclaimed lover of Beauty and the Beast longed for an elegant, soft look for her wedding day. Thanks to a little design know-how and some fairy tale magic, that’s exactly what she got when she married Steve. Timeless beauty came together in the form of satin table runners, crystal candelabras, soft florals, and ambient lighting. While the muted purple and gray scheme brought romance to the occasion, silver gave a subtle but sparkly boost. Look for it in the form of sequin linens, a metallic wedding cake, and even the beaded belts on the bridesmaids dresses. Even Jacquelyn dressed the park in a beaded sweetheart neck mermaid gown with a full layered skirt. She accessorized it with a feather clutch and bohemian beaded headpiece at the reception. The overall look combined classic wedding style with a few modern trends, and Laura Kathleen Photography was lucky enough to capture the whole thing. If you like soft and airy romance, it’s definitely worth checking out!
From the bride…
Tell me about yourselves! When and how did you meet? How long have you been together? How did you get engaged? All the juicy details!
We met through mutual friends in the South Side on Steve’s birthday! Once we started talking, we realized his mother was my high school gym teacher….Pittsburgh is such a small world!!
We got engaged a year and a half later on December 23, 2015! He had planned a pre-Christmas dinner for him and me at Il Pizzaiolo in Market Square! I was running late from work and tried to get ready as fast as I could, as he patiently reminded me of our reservations. Once in Market Square, he suggested we take a photo in front of the tree and ice skating ring. After the photo, he pulled me in for a kiss and next thing I know, he was down on one knee asking me to marry him!!! Once we exchanged some celebratory kisses, I recognized voices cheering and shouting our names. I turned around to see both our families running towards us!! I was in heaven. I didn’t think it could get any sweeter….then a professional photographer comes out of her disguise. It was so magical to have all our family present for that moment and even more so having it photographed to relive it forever.
Describe the wedding and what inspired it. What was unique about it?
I have been dreaming of my wedding day since I was a little girl and I always wanted it to be timeless and elegant! I loved Beauty and the Beast growing up so I think deep down this had something to do with the setting and theme I wanted. When it came time to plan our wedding, I knew I wanted a romantic setting using only chandeliers and candelabras to light the space! Once I walked into The Pittsburgh Field Club, I knew that was it. I actually cried in the ballroom because I could see my wedding there!! My favorite color is purple and I wanted a soft, elegant look but something that was also eye-catching at the same time. So I decided to used muted lavender and gray for our colors with a touch of silver. The rest of the details were a mixture of ideas from myself, my mom, and Pinterest! I had a wedding planning binder that was my savior through the entire process; it kept me organized and offered additional ideas and wedding hacks!
What was your favorite moment of the day?
Seeing Steve at the altar while my dad walked me down the aisle! I’m the only girl with three brothers so that was a very special moment for me!
Is there any advice you would give to other couples planning their big day?
A friend advised me to take a look around at dinner while everyone is seated in front of you and to know that they are all there to celebrate you and your spouse. There’s just no feeling in the world like it!
