While Amy and Jeff’s original plans might have included a modern celebration downtown, the wedding at White Barn that they got was exactly what they never knew they needed. Thanks to the pandemic, the couple had to completely switch gears. They changed their city-style reception to a simple, barn-style one and decided to put the focus on family and what truly mattered – marrying each other. A pretty color palette of dusty rose and navy blue appeared throughout various details of the day, including some that the couple had initially planned with their original venue in mind but were lucky enough to be able to repurpose. A semi-naked wedding cake, lots of taper candles in glass cylinders, and a chic Jenny Yoo wedding dress with a gorgeous keyhole back from Blanc de Blanc Bridal were just a few of our most loved elements. Keep your eyes peeled for the custom illustration that bears Amy and Jeff’s likeness and served as a unique guest book. We are so glad Kristen Wynn Photography was there to document a day as incredibly sweet as this one!
About the Couple
We met freshman year of high school and instantly developed a really close friendship. We were in the same friend group and even dated each other’s friends. We remained really close friends even as we went our separate ways to different colleges. We finally decided to take our friendship to the next level in the summer of 2015. We got engaged in the summer of 2019 on a vacation in Europe. He proposed at the Castle of Edinburg in Scotland.
About the Wedding
We had plans to have a modern, city style wedding. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, we ended up changing our entire wedding plan one month before the big day. We changed our vision to a simple, soft, and romantic barn style wedding. We already had a handful of decorations that were meant to be for our old venue, but we made them work at White Barn. Thanks to my family and supportive now-husband, I was able to stay grounded even with the constant changes and keep my focus on what truly mattered – marrying my best friend.
Favorite Moment
We laugh about how many times our wedding plans changed due to the pandemic, but we wouldn’t change it for the world. We are thankful for the support of our family and friends in the decision to not postpone our wedding and instead have it while abiding by all of the restrictions in place.
One vivid memory from the night was when our DJ played “Love Story” by Taylor Swift and every guest was singing along at the top of their lungs!
