One look at this Blackwater Falls wedding and you will probably swear it took place somewhere in the Pacific Northwest. These views simply don’t exist anywhere close to Pittsburgh, right? WRONG! Just a short drive south sits Blackwater Falls State Park, where today’s feature took place. Nicole and Matt chose a breathtaking location to exchange vows – a cliff overlooking rolling hills of coniferous trees complete with their dogs present and a tree-planting ceremony. After an epic portrait session with Whitling Photography – that included some pretty amazing aerial shots – the newlyweds celebrated al fresco style in a tent reception. The space was styled with hanging bistro lights, mix and match wooden chairs, lace doilies, and upcycled wine bottle centerpieces. Antique pink linens and an abundance of fresh greenery added a vintage but neutral vibe, while a floral chandelier above the sweetheart table give it that wow factor. It was casual chic meets nature inspired and it’s all below for your viewing pleasure! Be sure to check out the clip from All Heart Photo & Video too!
About the Couple
Matt’s brother, Chad, has been my super close friend since middle school. Matt is five years older than me. Growing up, I was always googly-eyed over him, but I was too young. Matt ended up asking me to my senior prom, to which I said, “HELL YES!” We’ve been together ever since!
We went to the Grand Teton Mountains in Wyoming to hike and watch the solar eclipse in August 2017 and Matt proposed to me during a 24-mile hike at the top of Paintbrush Divide.
About the Wedding
The wedding was very neutral and rustic chic. The bridesmaids wore an antiqued pink, but everything else about the wedding was white, beige, and greenery garland. The garland was everything for me when envisioning our day! Honestly, I was taking inspiration from Pinterest but also my own ideas. I also got a lot of inspiration from our wedding planner Erika, owner of Ella & Company. She had amazing ideas.
Favorite Moment
I loved the ceremony. All of our fur babies were in the wedding, which made it extra special. It poured down rain about a minute after the ceremony was over, so that made it seem like everything worked out PERFECTLY! We also practiced a choreographed waltz as our first dance that I was so excited for! It was great! The whole reception was just so beautiful and fun. I couldn’t even choose a favorite part. I did take some time to just sit back and watch everyone having a good time and just kind of breathe and think how amazingly it all turned out.
