Inspired by the farm venue, this blue and green Lingrow Farm wedding combines rustic vibes, natural beauty, and a little bit of glam. Sarah and Nathan were going for something eclectic and elegant that also complimented the serene landscapes of the venue. Opting for a color palette of sage green, white, and navy, the couple was able to do just that. Wedding invitations featuring sprigs of fresh greenery and soft lettering, an airy lace and chiffon BHLDN wedding dress with a dainty criss-cross back, boutonnieres that included tiny succulents, hand painted wooden signs, groomsmen clad in modern navy blue suits, and an oversized bridal bouquet of air plants, ferns, eucalyptus, and white peonies (JUST WAIT UNTIL YOU SEE IT!) all helped to bring the chosen color scheme to life. Sequin bridesmaids dresses, statement bridal jewelry, and a gold drip wedding cake added that metallic touch I love so much. A pop of cobalt came in the form of crush linens and the wedding favors – bottles of wine made by the father of the groom. A picturesque setting combined with an earthy color scheme and organic details make Sarah and Nathan’s wedding day like a breath of fresh air. About the Couple
We met in high school. Nathan says I was mean to him. I say Nathan was mean to me! Most likely, it was just awkward teenage flirting. A year had passed with Nathan away at college when we reconnected. While at the Murrysville Panera (on his mother’s birthday!), Nathan asked me to be his girlfriend! I said, “Yes!” Four years later on May 30, 2014, while perusing a jewelry store in Altoona, PA, Nathan suggested that I try on an engagement ring. I loved looking at the rings just for fun (what girl doesn’t!?) and quickly slipped on my favorite. Nathan, seeing the ring in place, nonchalantly said, “This is the one.” While it wasn’t the most romantic proposal, it was exactly our style. And once again…I said, “Yes!” Months later, another setting with a bit more sparkle caught our eyes and by Christmas Day it was on my finger! Four years and two jewelry store trips later, we were engaged!
About the Wedding
Our wedding theme was rustic, eclectic, and elegant. We loved Lingrow Farm the minute we laid eyes on the venue. We were immediately pulled in by the peaceful pond blanketed with water lilies in bloom, the barn with its rough-cut rafters intertwined with sparkling champagne lights, and the beautiful green grounds ornamented with flora and tasteful features. While choosing our color scheme, we integrated our favorite colors of blue and green and embraced the brown barn because we, along with our guests, would spend most of our evening within it! We added cobalt blue tablecloths for a pop of color and our choice of green and white flowers, inspired by the lush green grounds, complemented the barn beautifully. We added a touch of gold for an elegant accent. Our main goal was to have a beautiful wedding but we really wanted our family and friends to have a great time. We kept our ceremony brief, but meaningful, and focused on the reception! We loved that our personalities were able to shine through the small details.
We had a couple of things that made our wedding unique. The wine that was poured throughout the night and the wedding favors were made by the groom’s father. He has been making his own wine for years and when he proposed the idea of making it!
Favorite Moment
Sarah: Reaching the end of the (what felt like a mile long) aisle and seeing Nathan’s smiling face at the altar while I tried to hold back my tears. Also, being introduced into the reception as “Mr. and Mrs. Bauer.” Hearing that for the first time was an INCREDIBLE feeling.
Nathan: My favorite moment of the day was when I caught my first glimpse of Sarah in her dress. It was nothing like what I was expecting but she couldn’t have picked a more beautiful dress nor could I have married a more beautiful bride! I also had so much fun dancing through the night, despite the fact that I’m a terrible dancer.
