Megan and Nick’s romantic monochromatic Westin Pittsburgh wedding was a dreamy celebration of their “meet cute” turned love story! The day began with the ladies getting all dolled up before Megan slipped into her stunning gown. Thanks to the team at Anne Gregory Couture, her look was composed of two dresses that came together to make her dream gown. Talk about gorgeous! Sleek contrasting black Azazie bridesmaids dresses looked oh-so-elegant on the bridesmaids as they posed while holding the prettiest white calla lily bouquets by Sapphire & Lace Design. But the beauty didn’t stop there! With the help of Wanderlust Weddings and Events, the couple dressed up their hotel ballroom reception space in a chic palette of ivory and taupe with delicate gold accents and candlelight sprinkled throughout. A cake by Bethel Bakery with tiers of textured buttercream roses and geometric squares played into the fancy aesthetic. And although the groom only touched down in the city from his deployment just a night before their nuptials, there was no stopping Meghan and Nick from having the time of their lives! The two headed outdoors with the fiery sky above them, posing and laughing with Dorosh Documentaries capturing the moments, before heading back indoors to soak in the unforgettable night with the ones who mattered most. This video and these portraits represent a crazy little thing called love and you best believe we are living for it!
About the Couple
Years ago, Meghan and Nick were both out and about with their respective friend groups in the Southside. As the evening progressed, they both found themselves at Mario’s Southside Saloon. She saw a cute guy standing nearby and initiated conversation. Her opening line went something like, “Hi, I’m Meghan. I lost my friends. Can you help me find them?” That cute guy’s name was Nick. He bought her a drink and they talked for awhile, until Meghan eventually reunited with her friends. At some point in their interaction, Nick asked Meghan for her number – but he added the disclaimer, “I’m not going to text you.” Meghan wittingly shot back that she would not respond even if he did. It took just a few hours until Nick went back on his word and texted Meghan. She immediately followed suite, and responded.
After just a few dates, Meghan realized that she really liked Nick! They were in the same city for just a few months before spending the majority of their relationship long distance due to Nick’s commitment to the army. He has been stationed in Georgia, Korea, and Turkey, just to name a few places.
With their shared love for hiking, they have made the tradition of always going hiking on Black Friday. Often, they ventured to West Virginia or somewhere else out of town for a grander experience, but in 2017, Nick decided that he just wanted to stay in Pittsburgh, which surprised Meghan. He justified it by saying they were grabbing dinner with their parents after their day of hiking. They enjoyed a scenic trek around McConnells Mill where Nick completely surprised Meghan by proposing! Afterwards, that “dinner” turned out to be a huge surprise party he had planned for her!
About the Wedding
Nick and Meghan got married in the church where Meghan grew up, and then celebrated in the heart of Pittsburgh at the Westin. Their priority was for their guests to be happy and enjoy themselves. Nick was deployed the entire year leading up to the wedding. He actually didn’t get into Pittsburgh until late the night just prior to the wedding day! Albeit exhausted, these two soaked in every second of the day and were ecstatic about becoming husband and wife.
Favorite Moment
From the photographer…
Their May wedding was the PERFECT day weather-wise. However, during dinner, a thunderstorm passed through. We thought our sunset session was no longer a possibility due to the weather change. But the rain stopped and the sky was on fire with vibrant colors! We had to make the trek from the Westin down to the river but Nick and Meghan were total champs and actually jogged down to the water to soak in the sunset and take a few photos. They danced, they laughed, and then they literally ran back to their reception. It was so much fun, and such perfect imagery for these two as people and a couple.
