Being that we are in the midst of proposal season, this romantic Hartwood Acres engagement session is sure to put you in the mood for love. Laura and Ryan wanted something a little bit chic, glamorous and definitely unique. Surrounded by all of the mansion’s majestic grounds, they definitely accomplished that mission with Kathryn Hyslop Photography. To up the wow factor, Laura rented a silk crimson ballgown from Rent the Runway while Ryan donned his best navy suit. The formal attire dressed things up quite a bit. But when their photographer suggested some nighttime shots, that’s when things got really epic. An inky blue sky, that gorgeous dress, and a few cool lighting tricks on behalf of Katie and your jaw is going to hit the ground just like mine did. With their wedding having just taken place two weeks ago, showing off their swoon-worthy engagement session is the perfect excuse to celebrate. Enjoy!
From the bride…
When and how did you two meet?
We met at work in 2014 and quickly became friends. We both have silly and sarcastic personalities and started flirting with pranks and practical jokes. Some of our friends planned an office Christmas party/night out, which sparked Ryan to ask me on our first date for the following week.
Juicy details on the proposal, please! Where, when, how?
We had moved in together a few weeks earlier and were still unpacking and getting settled. We had come home from work and were deciding what to make for dinner, as well as unpacking some of our belongings. Ryan started telling me how happy he was for this stage in our lives, to be living together, and for the future. Before I even knew what was happening, Ryan was on one knee and asking me to marry him. Most of this was a blur of shock and happiness but I do recall some of the sweet words he said. Later, he told me he wanted the proposal to be as spontaneous and personal as possible knowing that I am VERY difficult to surprise. He most definitely succeeded!
Describe the engagement session.
I wanted the overall feel to be romantic, fun, glamorous, unique and to really capture our relationship. We love dressing up and I wanted to rent a dress from Rent the Runway to play up the fun, flirty, glamorous night images. I spoke with Katie in more detail on how I wanted the photos to feel and she suggested the evening and night photos. Her ideas better aligned with what I wanted and from there all the other details fell into place. Most importantly, we had an awesome time at the session. We laughed a lot and felt comfortable with each other and Katie, and I think that really shows in the photos. We wanted these images to be unique and capture our love while not taking it too seriously! This engagement is a huge moment in our lives and we just wanted to document it as being filled with love, joy, and excitement for the future.
Omg! Wow! Serious fangirling over here. An engagement session? How more beautiful can the weddings be?! This one had me surfing till the end of the page to have a glimpse of pre-marital bliss. Serious weddings goals have been set over here on stone!
