There is something so swoon-worthy about a Carnegie Museum wedding and this one from Dawn Derbyshire Photography and Just Hitched Wedding Films is certainly bringing the HEAT! Add in a feminine color palette of blush pink, white, black, and gold as well as lots of ambient lighting and you have a recipe for one romantic celebration. After exchanging vows at Heinz Chapel, where the bride wore a stunning wedding dress from Bridal Beginning, Sam and Adam gathered with family and friends at this opulent Pittsburgh wedding venue that oozes refinement. In terms of decor, it never takes much to make this space look beautiful. But that doesn’t mean Pete Donati & Sons didn’t knock it out of the park with stunning floral arrangements. A mixture of high and low centerpieces of pink and white roses, eucalyptus, lisianthus, and hypericum berries gave the room a garden-like feel. A fresh rose and greenery – along with slate menu cards from Purple Wagon Designs and gold chargers from Eventioneers – dressed up each place setting. We would expect nothing less than picture perfect details when Em and E Events is in charge of them. This wedding is such a lovely combination of timeless elegance and modern romance. About the Couple
Since high school, Adam and Sam were always in the same group of friends, but never dated. Adam even visited Virginia Tech and stayed at Sam’s apartment, but it wasn’t their time just yet. Fast forward to a decade later when Sam and her sister, Libby, were living in Hilton Head. In October 2016, Hurricane Matthew was headed towards the island, so Sam and Libby evacuated to Pittsburgh. Adam saw on Facebook that Sam was home and took this as an opportunity to reach out and ask her to catch up over drinks. Sam did not respond…yet. Many weeks passed and Sam was back in Hilton Head, and after a few too many drinks, decided to respond to Adam’s texts. Adam replied immediately and by the end of the night, Adam had booked a flight down to Hilton Head for two weeks later. The rest, they say, is history!
Adam knows how much Sam loves Christmas, so they started a tradition of going down to PPG to see the tree around Thanksgiving. On Wednesday, November 21, 2018, Adam told Sam they were going to see the tree and then eat dinner downtown. Once they got to the tree, Adam proposed! He had two of their friends there to take pictures of the entire event. Sam wanted to call my mom right away, but Adam said to wait. He had both of their families waiting at a restaurant nearby.
About the Wedding
From the photographer…
Sam wanted their wedding to be elegant, romantic, and classic. The colors were black, gold, and very light pink, with some white. She totally nailed a timeless look, both with their ceremony at Heinz Chapel and reception at the Carnegie Museum. The photo locations reflected that, showcasing classic Oakland architecture, but we did also sneak in a fun shot with Dippy the Dinosaur to check off one of Adam’s wishlist photos!
Favorite Moment
From the photographer…
While Sam said her most ANTICIPATED moment of the day was their first kiss (and Adam said photos with the dinosaur!), I loved their first look and their sparkler exit. The first look was sweet and intimate, taking place at the gorgeous Mellon Institute, the couple was just SO excited to see each other; it made everyone so happy. I also loved that they took advantage of the sun setting during the ceremony and had a sparkler exit as they left the church. It just had such an epic, romantic feel as they kissed surrounded by sparklers on the stairs of Heinz Chapel!
