We are turning up the romance factor ten-fold with today’s wedding at The Pennsylvanian. Christine and Kevin met the way most modern couples do – via a dating app! But that didn’t stop them from having a celebration that was timeless and effortlessly beautiful. A color palette of black, white, and gold will truly never go out of style, but this couple jazzed theirs up with ultra trendy dusty pink and flecks of gold for a metallic pop. A contemporary mix of table shapes gave the reception space visual interest while vintage-inspired amethyst glassware from All Occasions Party Rental offered a pop of color. Lush elevated centerpieces of white hydrangeas and mauve roses along with fresh greenery runners, both from Gidas Flowers, as well as an abundance of candlelight made the reception venue ooze with romance and ambiance. The style didn’t stop there, of course. Christine in an Anne Barge long sleeved, illusion back wedding dress from Anne Gregory Couture, and Kevin in custom velvet slipper shoes looked like the quintessential couple in love. Speaking of love, you’re going to adore these images from Jenni Grace Photography. Let the swooning commence!
About the Couple
Like most modern relationships, Christine and Kevin met on Bumble. On their first date, Christine agreed to show Kevin what the city of Akron had to offer. The date started out at a Mexican restaurant, followed by some post-dinner drinks. The real test came when Christine decided to take Kevin to karaoke at a notorious dive bar. The night was filled with Taylor Swift and Frank Sinatra.
After a couple of years, Christine was away on rotation at Johns Hopkins and Kevin knew he was ready to pop the question. He drove to Baltimore to pick up Christine and surprised her with a change of plans the morning before their departure. He told her they would be spending the next night at Nemacolin because “it had been a long month” and she bought it! Right before dinner, Kevin mentioned they should check out Nemacolin’s rooftop bar (which does not exist). Christine agreed and with the assistance of the concierge, he guided her up to a balcony above the resort. As they stepped outside, she caught one glimpse of a small round table with champagne and flowers and instantly burst into tears. She knew exactly what was about to happen. It was in that moment that all of Kevin’s preparation of speeches went out the window. He gave it his best and thankfully she said YES!
About the Wedding
The wedding was classic and elegant. The men wore classic black tuxedos and the women donned navy blue gowns. The bride’s dress was sleek and had a gorgeous low back with lace sleeves. Her hair was elegantly tucked up with her lace trimmed veil. The groom’s velvet slipper shoes with duck embroidery paid homage to his favorite pastimes of hunting and fishing. Gidas Flowers stayed with classic white florals and greenery. Eucalyptus added a softness to the bridal bouquet. The reception added a dusty pink into the color palette, along with gold linens. Lots of candles made The Pennsylvanian romantic and elegant. Many of the guests came in from out of town, so The Pennsylvanian’s rotunda was a big part of their wedding day vision. Cocktail hour under the rotunda gave the guests panoramic views of the city!
