Feelin’ groovy? After you view this boho 70’s inspired bridal shower, there’s no doubt you will be! With a wedding consisting of a muted palette on the horizon, bride-to-be Hanah wanted to infuse a little boldness into her pre-wedding celebration. She rewound time via style and decor, decking out SLATE for a retro disco bridal shower. The evening affair included a mix of rattan textures, vintage dishware, and clear glassware courtesy of All Occasions Party Rental. Guests were greeted by Hanah – who wore fashion related to the decade including platform heels and a chic jumpsuit from BHLDN – before finding their seat via vinyl record escort cards. Unwrapped gifts were not only a sustainable touch requested by the bride-to-be, but they gave her time to mingle and dance to playlists that contained music from the era. And what’s a 70’s celebration without some mirror balls?! EF Lighting had the room sparkling with a disco ball installation, giving a modern glow-up to the overall vibe, which Hot Metal Studio captured with ease. If you’re looking for an out-of-the-box bridal shower idea that’s chock full of vintage style, feast your eyes on this stellar design!
About the Shower
My bridal shower was a boho 70’s disco theme. I wanted the sparkle of the disco balls surrounded by the vintage 70’s style and a touch of bohemian details. The color scheme was white, silver, and the classic yellows and oranges of the 70’s. EF lighting did an amazing disco ball installation that had the whole room sparkling. Gold Dust Floral brought both the 70’s colors and the bohemian style with bold blooms accented by dried florals. We brought the boho feel with lots of rattan details like furniture and chargers.
It was a true culmination of all of my favorite things. Music is a huge part of our lives and a big part of what brought us together. We had a 70’s disco party playlist playing all night. When guests entered, they found their seat by finding a 45 record with their name on it from a vintage 45 case. That record led them to tables that were named after some of my favorite 70’s artists. I had a fancy pink drink named after Dolly Parton and there were cookies with her face and signature on it. We named all the cupcakes, which were made by my mom, after 70’s items or songs as well. I made the “Dreams Unwind, Love’s a State of Mind” (From “Rhiannon” by Fleetwood Mac) banner that hung on the wall using fabric, ribbon and my Cricut machine. To really make sure it felt like a true 70’s event, we worked really hard to find all vintage glassware and dishes. We did a mixture of amber, yellow, and milk glass cups and vases and a Corelle plate with the yellow butterfly pattern.
Along with my love for 70’s music, I am very drawn to the fashion of the era. I went with a white satin bell bottom jumpsuit and some platform heels, paired with a classic 70’s middle part and some boho waves.
Lastly, I wanted the food to be casual and fun and wanted to serve one of my favorite foods – pizza! DiAnoia’s was the perfect fit! We served their classic pizzas, pasta, salad, and some sides. Everything was out of this world. All of our guests raved about the food and service; they were truly incredible!
