This engagement session at Hartwood Acres is high fashion meets rustic chic. Abby was inspired by Ralph Lauren, whose cutting edge editorials famously combine country with glamour. The bride-to-be dressed in a floor length copper and gold brocade gown, while her fiance Steven looked ever the GQ model in a classic black and white tuxedo. Together, the pair resembled an old Hollywood couple as they explored unknown parts of Hartwood Acres park with Dawn Derbyshire Photography. Sitting atop wooden fences, bringing beauty to muddy pathways, or popping champagne on the stone steps, Abby and Steven brought grace and glitz to every inch of this engagement shoot location. If you ever wanted to see what a magazine photo shoot taking place in Pittsburgh looked like, this is it!
About the Couple
My family has a long-standing tradition of cutting down our Christmas tree. “Tree Day” is responsible for some of my best memories and has easily become my favorite day of the year. Last year’s Tree Day was especially amazing. After we finally decided on THE tree, Stephen surprised me (I was genuinely 100% surprised!) by proposing. The ring he picked is beautiful, classic, and perfect. More importantly, being able to share that moment with my family was so special to me. Not to mention my sister got some amazing photos! He nailed it.
About the Session
We had a great time at our engagement session. Dawn is incredibly talented and always manages to get the shot quickly and painlessly! We chose Hartwood Acres partially because it is a beautiful park and we wanted to capture some fall foliage, but also because of the memories we have there. Summer concerts, polo matches, walking the dogs regularly – and how could I forget, we even took prom pictures there together 10+ years ago! I was inspired by a Ralph Lauren editorial. I loved the idea of black tie with a rustic backdrop. Dawn totally got my vision and came prepared with a ton of ideas. The shoot was quick, fun, and the photos are better than we could have imagined!!
