Soft colors, dainty florals, and a light and airy aesthetic are some of our favorite things. Combine that with glamorous gold and bohemian touches and you’ve got the recipe for the perfect spring wedding at Georgetown Centre. Patience and Steve’s sweet celebration included shades of moss, hand-lettered acrylic signs, pampas grass textures, and candlelight that filled the space with elegance. Be sure to peep the bridesmaids’ edgy faux leather jackets, the gold shelf-turned seating display, and the custom illustration serving as the newlywed’s guest book. You best believe all the pretty details came with a ton of beautiful and incredibly fun moments too, including the pair’s darling first look outdoors and the bride’s brothers stealing the show with their flower men flash dance during the ceremony. This collection of images from Ashley Reed Photography really provides endless inspiration for a serene, light-hearted, fun-filled day!
About the Couple
We met at a backyard party at our mutual friend’s house in the summer of 2008, right after Steve graduated high school. I don’t think either of us paid much attention to each other that day. Over the course of the next few years, we continued to hang out and always ended up in the same places. By 2012, we were the best of friends, and you couldn’t find one of us without the other. January 2013 is when we realized we were developing more than a friendship. It only took five years for us to admit that we had fallen in love!
The story of our engagement shares many similarities with the story of how we started dating – i.e. it took forever! Neither of us put much weight in the idea of marriage, though we knew we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together. In July 2019, we took a long weekend trip to Virginia Beach with our friends. We had a long, fun day of relaxing on the beach and soaking up the sun. After getting back in the hotel and cleaning up for dinner, Steve suggested we take some photos on the balcony in front of our beautiful beach view. While our friends went to snap the photo, Steve got on one knee and popped the question!
About the Wedding
We wanted a light and fun spring wedding. The wedding was the day before Easter, so bright and airy pastels were the vibe. The bridesmaids wore moss green dresses and we had ties made in the same color for the men. The suits for the men were a light gray paired with brown shoes and belts. The girls had black pleather jackets to give a little edge to the spring theme, and just in case of volatile April weather. The decor was a little boho with the pampas grass and greenery, but also a little glam with the gold geometric patterns and furniture throughout. I am also super proud of our cake topper, which was custom made via 3D printing by one of our florist’s sons! We just wanted to keep everything simple, but beautiful.
Favorite Moment
I think the moment that stole the show was the flower man. I wanted my younger brother to be part of the big day, but my groomsmen side was a bit crowded. We decided to ask him to be the flower man instead and he really made the role his own. He incorporated my other brother to do a whole Flashdance routine, which added such a fun and comedic relief to a day! I also enjoyed having the Honorable Eugene Ricciardi as our officiant. Gene has been a good friend to my family since before I was born and was our councilman when I was growing up in South Side. It meant a lot to have him there for our big day. Aside from those things, I really just enjoyed seeing so many of my family and friends after a year of almost total isolation during the pandemic. We were fortunate to have 100 guests and felt so much love on that day!
