Jessica and John’s Point State Park engagement session is perfectly Pittsburgh! Having met in the city and residing in the area for most of their lives, choosing a location to take their engagement photos was effortless. The North Shore and Point State Park made the most sense since Jessica and John wanted to feature Acrisure Stadium (cough cough, Heinz Field) and the iconic, yellow Three Sisters Bridges in the background. Kaitlyn Logan Photography captured the sweetest photos of the couple as they walked hand-in-hand through the iconic Pittsburgh locations with the beautiful fall foliage in the background. They even managed to include the most adorable prop, their pup, who couldn’t wait to tell the world his humans were getting married. If you’re a sucker for sweet engagement photos like us, you can’t miss this beautiful engagement session in the city!
About the Couple
John and I both graduated from the same college in May 2018, but it wasn’t until after graduation that our paths crossed. My friends and I love to catch a Pirates game whenever we can, so about a month after graduation we went to a game. On a whim, we decided to grab a drink at Mario’s in Southside. John and I had our “meet cute” moment when he introduced himself to me at the bar. I remember thinking that he had the most beautiful smile. After chatting the rest of the night and a couple of Vegas bombs later, he asked for my number. We talked for a few weeks before going on our first date to what is now our go-to restaurant. He made me laugh the whole time. Little did I know he swapped his usual messy ribs for a more first date friendly steak…true chivalry. After dating for a few months, our relationship was put to the test when I moved four hours away to further my education. John made the 4-hour drive almost every weekend to see me that year. He really made an effort to show how much I meant to him every chance he got.
A month after our third anniversary, John proposed…but it didn’t quite go as planned. We were living in St. Louis, MO at the time and he planned to go out to a nice steak dinner and then stroll through the Christmas light show at the Missouri Botanical Garden. I will admit that I was a little suspicious because he was never the “Let’s go to the botanical garden” type of guy and he was VERY adamant about these plans. We enjoyed dinner and headed to the garden. As we pulled up, security was waving everyone by, announcing that they were evacuating due to a tornado. I remember seeing John go white as a ghost, but still trying to remain cool, calm, and collected as his big plans were derailed. We rushed home. After things calmed down, John put on some music and asked if I wanted to dance. He led me in front of our Christmas tree and got down on one knee. It was the sweetest, most heartfelt proposal. I was so teary eyed that I couldn’t even see the ring!
About the Session
Since we met in Pittsburgh and have lived close to the area most of our lives, it only made sense to have our engagement pictures shot in the city. We wanted to capture who we are in the one place that will always be home to us, regardless of where we are. We made sure to get pictures with the Steelers stadium and the stunning bridges in the background. We really wanted the vibe of our photos to be “fall in the city” and we wanted get some nice architectural shots that featured some of Pittsburgh’s beautiful fall foliage. Our photographer was so wonderful and made us feel so comfortable and confident.
