Before I met my husband, I had a brief stint in the online dating world. It didn’t work for me personally but Krystle and Chris are living proof that it does work for some people! After meeting on Match.com, these two quickly fell in love. A picture-perfect Yosemite National Park proposal followed, before their adorable engagement session with Rachel Tokarski Photography. For the photos, the couple wanted to stick to their own neighborhood, the South Side. They stopped at a few of their regular haunts, including Big Dog Coffee and Nadine’s Bar. They also made sure to show off the grittiness and character that make the South Side so special. The session wasn’t complete before hitting up a nearby playground to have some fun on the swings and act like kids again. Playful are carefree, Krystle and Chris’s engagement photos are about as darling as they come. Enjoy!
From the bride…
When and how did you two meet?
Chris and I met through Match.com. After Chris messaged me several times, I agreed to meet him at Mad Mex. I arrived early (as usual) and almost left when Chris was about 15 minutes late. After our first meeting, Chris texted me every day until I became his girlfriend, and even then he still texted me.
Juicy details on the proposal, please! Where, when, how?
Chris proposed when we were on a vacation from San Francisco to Yosemite then to Napa. All of my friends said it would be our engagement trip and I didn’t believe them. I walked all over San Francisco secretly hoping at each location he’d propose…and he didn’t. For Chris’s birthday, I booked a surprise guided hike through Yosemite as a gift. On that day, I was packing our backpack and found a box that looked like a ring box and I quickly shoved it back inside the backpack. Six miles uphill to Lembert Dome in Yosemite…I scaled my way to the very top hoping that this would be the moment…and again, he didn’t propose. Finally at the end of a three mile hike to a remote lake in Yosemite, Chris asked to get one last photo. In that moment, he pulled the ring out of his pocket and asked me to be his wife, and of course I said yes!
Describe the engagement shoot.
Our engagement shoot was in the South Side, by our home in the slopes. We wanted it to be fall-esque as we love fall but we also wanted it to be gritty like the city and neighborhood we live in and love. We love Nadine’s Bar and Big Dog Coffee and we are regulars there, so of course, we had to feature them in the shoot!
