Marikate and Shawn’s love story and Pittsburgh Field Club wedding could be defined as a modern fairytale – a love so sweet with all of the big moments of their relationship occurring in Pittsburgh. It was only fitting their wedding day would take place here too! The simplicity of their ivory and gold wedding colors paired with the upscale features of the Pittsburgh Field Club made for the perfect aesthetic. Combine that with the touches of candlelight, lush greenery, and white floral designs by Allison McGeary, along with dreamy calligraphy details – all of which were overseen by Lori Comber Events – and you have yourself the ultimate elegant soiree! But the décor wasn’t the only swoon-worthy thing. Hannah Conard Beauty had the ladies glowing, while the guys also looked ravishing in their well-tailored tuxedos from Liberty Formals. Since Marikate and Sean opted against a first-look, locking eyes with Marikate as she walked down the aisle in her timeless wedding dress from Bridal Beginning made for such an exciting part of the day! About the Couple
We first met back in March 2014. We were both out for the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade and wound up running into each other at Mario’s Southside Saloon. Shawn first approached me, not knowing my first name, only that I was Elizabeth’s sister. I thought Shawn was a police officer. Even with those obstacles, we shared plenty of laughs and it sparked something that would turn into a relationship.
It was not until January 2015 during the Steelers vs. Ravens play-off game that we picked up where we left off that night. We were both at McFadden’s on the North Shore cheering on the Steelers. I flagged down Shawn as we were both walking around the bar. Shawn invited me and my friends to come over where he was sitting. We talked the whole rest of the game. After the game, we both went our separate ways home.
On March 7, 2015, we went on their first date. A few weeks later, we made it official and started dating.
About the Wedding
The wedding colors are white and gold. I wanted a simple and elegant color palette to match with the cream and gold room at the Pittsburgh Field Club.
Favorite Moment
Since we did not do a first look, his favorite moment was seeing me walk down the aisle and mine was walking down that aisle! I have also attended church at St. Bernard’s my entire life (as well as the school), so being married there was one of the best and most special parts of the day!
