With the intertwining of industrial-meets-pastel styling, Hannah and McKenzie’s wedding at Over Eden combined light, dreamy botanicals with an unexpectedly edgy rooftop aesthetic. Captured by Anne Troxel Photography, the day was every bit as fun as it was stylish. She shared that the couple didn’t hold back – from their rooftop ceremony framed by green hillsides and a one-of-a-kind city view, to catching kisses in the elevator, to their golden-hour portraits on the roof, the venue perfectly matched each mood. Hannah’s crepe gown from modern bridal house Grace Loves Lace paired beautifully with her pearled veil, while McKenzie sported an all-white suit from David Alan Clothing. High-quality faux florals by Heirloom Floral styled beautifully alongside fresh blooms provided by Flowerama. The team at Over Eden handled both catering and event planning, guiding the day from ceremony to reception with ease. After exchanging vows with the sweeping green landscape behind them, the couple wasted no time transforming the rooftop into a full-on party. Accessories played a major role, including custom t-shirts for guests that read, “I went to Hannah & McKenzie’s wedding and all I got was this lousy shirt,” complete with cutesy wedding-themed illustrations.
About the Couple
Hannah and McKenzie met during the pandemic, bonding over FaceTime calls and their shared love of playing Call of Duty. McKenzie’s first impression of Hannah was her smile, bubbly personality, and what she lovingly calls her “happy cheeks.” A year into dating, McKenzie decided to move from Ohio to Pittsburgh to be with Hannah.
McKenzie proposed first, arranging for a friend to take Hannah out for the day while she filled their apartment with rose petals and candles for an intimate, intentional proposal. Hannah surprised her right back by proposing two weeks later at a bonfire – the same way they had celebrated their first anniversary.

Hannah and McKenzie’s wedding on the rooftop of the Tryp Hotel’s Over Eden was the perfect mix of styles, complete with sweeping views of Pittsburgh’s rivers and the downtown skyline. They combined two aesthetics that aren’t traditionally associated with each other – light and airy color tones, but with the perfect splash of edge, industrial, and luxury vibes (check out those LV loafers! So good.). The design leaned into rainbow tones, but instead of Crayola, they were the perfect pastels with a soft springtime twist. It touched on the “butter yellow” trend, along with classic blues and pinks – so chic. Sustainable faux florals added a mindful touch, while Hannah carried a bouquet so big and beautiful that it practically stole the show – featuring peonies, garden roses, and every bit of romance.
One of the most emotional moments came when Hannah’s uncle, who helped raise her after her father passed away, walked her down the aisle. Later, he joined her for the first dance, with all of Hannah’s siblings stepping in midway, too. There wasn’t a dry eye in sight. The entire moment felt extra special and hometown sweet, with the city’s views surrounding the venue. Just when everyone was dabbing their tears from speeches, a punchline would bring everyone back to laughter and joy.
For their first dance, they chose “Lifetime” by Justin Bieber, a sweet nod to the first concert they ever went to together. After, the vibe shifted into a rooftop party, with DJ Jess incorporating interactive elements into their day and also bringing the cutest marquee sign for the couple.
Favorite Moment
I really loved all of the small details of the day – but if I had to pick just one thing, it would be the t-shirt toss! It was something I’d never seen at any of the 100+ weddings I’ve attended. It brought out so much energy from guests and was far more useful than an extra bouquet. It paired perfectly with their vintage-inspired heart-shaped cake and added so much of that “fun” aspect to the pastel party. 10/10, highly recommend.
