After getting engaged in the City of Love (Paris!), Gretchen and Andrew turned to the City of Bridges for their sweet North Shore engagement session. In true Pittsburgh fashion, the two walked through the city’s Riverwalk and along the Roberto Clemente Bridge, blending their laid back yet sophisticated attire with some pretty epic views of the city skyline. But make no mistake about it – while the scenery is beautiful, it’s their love that really stands out! With the sun shining and smiles beaming, you’re in for a delightful treat with these photos captured by Kristen Vota Photography!
About the Couple
We met in February 2017 through Bumble! I was living in Niles, OH and Andrew was living in Sewickley. Andrew drove all the way to Ohio for our first date and I took him to a really dive-y bar near my apartment in case I needed to make a quick exit! Thankfully, we hit it off and the rest was history!
We went on our first trip to Europe together in April 2019 and we went to Paris, Venice, and Rome. On the second day of our trip, we went to the castle of Versailles in Paris – my favorite place in the world. We were on a beautiful tree-lined pathway in the gardens and Andrew said he wanted to take a picture. He set the phone up on the ground and the next thing I knew, he was down on one knee! We were so tired from all the walking by the end of the day that we celebrated with champagne in plastic cups in our hotel room 🙂
About the Session
We are city people and really wanted our engagement shoot to reflect that! Since our wedding will be at the National Aviary, a lot of our pictures will be taken in their rose garden and in the park next door. Having our engagement shoot along the North Shore allowed us to get the Pittsburgh city shots we really wanted. The North Shore also allowed for a variety of shots with the river, green space, bridges, and the downtown skyline. Kristen really had a great eye for shot locations, which allowed us to get a huge variety of pictures!
