Channeling the bride’s love of horror into an elegant night of incantations, Dale and Jason’s moody fall wedding at The Harper was equal parts elevated and edgy. October’s rich tones set the mood for their outdoor ceremony, as the surrounding autumn hues became a perfect match for the florals. Timberland Floral and Gifts complemented the setting with dramatic arrangements in red, ivory, and deep burgundy. Photographed by Taylor Ollason, the day was, as she described, “clearly not your typical fall wedding.” Dale wore a classic satin ballgown featuring sheer cutouts and an ultra-high slit for a touch of edge, paired with a veil embroidered with black vining leaves. For the couple’s first dance, she changed into a striking black gown – both dresses from Bridal Beginning and styled to feel entirely one-of-a-kind. Jason matched the mood with a bold fashion choice of his own: a red velvet tuxedo from Liberty Formals. Serving as a perfect complement, bridesmaids wore red velvet dresses, a timeless bridesmaid style we are currently loving. Behind their head table, a glowing neon sign reading “‘Til Death” offered a playful nod to both the season and the day’s hauntingly romantic theme.
About the Couple
Dale and Jason owe the start of their love story to Hinge. It was Jason’s “two truths and a lie” that originally caught Dale’s attention.
Dale had studied and fallen in love with American Sign Language in college, which made one of Jason’s responses stand out immediately. She boldly opened their conversation with: “I hope the truth is that you know sign language so we can talk shit on other people at the bar.” As it turns out, Jason’s parents are both deaf, and ASL was his first language. The rest, for this match made in heaven, is history.
About a year and a half later, Jason proposed to Dale in front of Lake Moraine in Alberta, Canada. To Dale’s surprise, the “random passerby” who offered to take a photo of them quickly swapped out her phone for a camera to capture the moment. As the couple described it, the proposal came “with a backdrop that would make AI jealous.” Jason and the engagement photographer had planned the perfect surprise to wrap up their trip.

The bride wore a magnificent veil detailed with black lace, a hauntingly beautiful touch that felt both romantic and edgy. Her second look – a stunning black wedding dress – was an absolute showstopper, perfectly paired with the groom’s red velvet tux and the bridesmaids’ matching red velvet dresses. Behind their sweetheart table, a glowing “‘Til Death” neon sign added just the right hint of playful darkness. Every detail paid homage to the spooky, sultry aesthetic they love, while still feeling personal, stylish, and unforgettable.
Favorite Moment
One of my favorite moments from Dale and Jason’s sultry fall wedding at The Harper happened that evening, just as the air turned crisp. We brought some of our lounge furniture down to the ceremony site in front of the grand cement fireplace for a special round of couples’ portraits. The bride had changed into a stunning black wedding dress, and the look was absolute perfection – dramatic, sexy, and moody in all the right ways. The photos from that session were pure magic, heating up the brisk fall night with a sultry edge that felt straight out of a fashion editorial.
