Taylor and Tyler may have hosted a Rivers Club wedding with a modern vibe, but their Halloween meeting in 2018 was the beginning of an old-fashioned romance. Flash forward to their wedding…no doubt Tyler’s heart was set aflame during the first look with Taylor! Elegant and timeless, she wore a stunning gown from Blanc de Blanc Bridal and pointed-toe black patent leather Christian Louboutin pumps – with red bottoms, of course! Her look was complete with flawless makeup from Glam to Go. After a traditional ceremony and colorful downtown portrait session (seriously, talk about something blue!), the newlyweds headed to the party with their family and friends. There, the sensual glow of 250 candles combined with a chic and unique color palette of black, white, copper, and emerald green created a distinctly romantic vibe. Sleek clear chairs from Eventioneers and sultry black linens from Mosaic added modern touches while a massive cookie table and a guest book featuring the Pittsburgh skyline were the classic details we all crave. Thank goodness Kristen Sanderson Photography captured every spark of the magic!

About the Couple
The way we met is short, sweet, and the old fashioned way. On October 26, 2018, Howl at the Moon was hosting their annual Halloween Party. The bar was packed, with very little room to move. One of my friends asked me to switch her spots and during that switch, I bumped into Tyler. I, of course, sparked up a conversation, which led to us talking all night. It wasn’t until the bar was about to close that we exchanged numbers. The next day, I waited all day to see if Tyler was going to text me. Well, I got tired of waiting so I texted him first. Ever since those first few texts, we have been together.
Fast forward to Saturday June 20, 2020. My parents and Tyler planned a cookout for Father’s Day. Leading up to this day, I was hoping a proposal would happen since my family and grandparents would all be there. While everyone was sitting outside, Tyler called my niece over so she could show me something. Well, that something was a cut-out of a cat that looked just like our cat, Stout. Tyler then told me, “Stout is saying something to you” and on the back of the cut out were the words “Will You Marry Me?”. I was surprised, crying, and couldn’t catch my breath, but of course said YES!

About the Wedding
For the wedding, I wanted a space that was romantic, intimate, and elegant with a touch of modern elements. When picking the colors, I wanted to be different, so I went with black, white, copper, and emerald green. The colors were elegant and stood out from the past weddings we have attended. To bring in the romantic vibe, I thought about having candles EVERYWHERE (250+ candles) throughout the venue and large flower arrangements.
Rivers Club fit exactly what we were looking for in a venue. The ballroom was intimate, elegant, and modern. After the first meeting, I could envision the wedding at this venue. Throughout the planning process, I would show the Rivers Club’s coordinator my Pinterest board to communicate how I was envisioning the evening looking – from the black linens and clear chairs with flowers and candles everywhere. Once the day finally came, the team went above and beyond to make sure our vision came to life. From the welcome sign, to the massive cookie table, to the glow sticks, they made sure everything was perfect!

Favorite Moment
From Tyler…
Our first look at the ballroom had to have been my favorite part of the day. It gave us a moment to be with each other and really soak in the day. During that time, our DJ played some soft music, and we were able to dance, just the two of us. I will never forget that moment, even if it was only for a few minutes
From Taylor…
My favorite part of the day was our first look. All morning I was a nervous mess, my anxiety was to the max, and I was trying to calm down. It wasn’t until I saw Tyler that I truly did. He knew exactly what to say to calm my nerves.
