Today’s Circuit Center wedding is a flawless mix of classic big day vibes and the hottest wedding trends. Because Kayla and Zack’s chosen venue is such a neutral, versatile space, they easily transformed it into a modern, bohemian oasis. The pair exchanged vows into front of a geometric backdrop while tons of candles and soft uplighting gave the room a romantic glow. Afterwards, the newlyweds hit up some classic Pittsburgh locations for portraits that symbolized their love for the city. Back at the party, Madeline Kelly Events made sure every detail was in place. This included a custom-printed seating chart in front of a greenery wall, smoky glassware that added a pop of color to the tablescapes, and floral arrangements featuring magnolia leaves and white and rust-colored roses from Steel City Florals, and a geometric cake stand and topper. It was an elegant blend of timeless vibes and today’s wedding must haves. Even the couple represented this dichotomy with Kayla in a classic lace Martina Liana wedding dress from Bridal Beginning and Zack in a cool black and gray tuxedo. About the Couple
Kayla and Zack grew up in the same town but went to different schools. It wasn’t until a Steelers tailgate a few years after high school that they exchanged numbers. They then had a chance encounter at a local bar where he asked her on a date. They went out for Italian food the day after Thanksgiving and the rest is history!
After a long day of work and traveling, Kayla arrived to their South Side home and Zack met her at the bottom of the steps. He walked her inside, which she thought was odd but she went with it. When she entered, she saw three dozen roses, a box of Oreos and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups (all her favorite things), and a then he handed her two cards. The first card talked about how thankful he was for her. The second card talked about his love for her and how there is no one in the world he’d rather be with. She hugged him and as they hugged, she asked why his heart was beating so fast. It was when she let go of the hug that he grabbed a box under the table and proposed. Kayla said she was in complete disbelief and – after what felt like forever for Zack – she said, “YES!”
About the Wedding
The theme of the day was classic black and ivory with a splash of bohemian accents. Candles and greenery took center stage, with the venue dimly lit for a very romantic feel. The day was planned to include thoughtful moments, like a first look on the Terrace at the Hyatt House, which included the reading of personally written vows. They have a deep love for Pittsburgh and wanted to showcase that with their portrait session. They hit up major Pittsburgh landmarks like the Roberto Clemente Bridge, the North Shore, Heinz Field, and the Carnegie Mellon columns. Their ceremony was short and sweet, officiated by Kayla’s uncle, and included the perfect mix of laughter and tears. The dance floor was packed all night with family and friends they have collected throughout their life together.
Favorite Moment
From the photographer…
My favorite sentimental moment was the private exchange of their handwritten vows after their first look. Kayla and her grandmother also had a private moment were she shared her advice for marriage and how happy for and proud of Kayla she was.
My other favorite moments were the fun escapades during the reception, including their grand entrance with custom fanny packs and Zack rapping “Juicy” by Biggie Smalls for all the guests.
