A blush and terracotta palette set the stage for Azia and Kirill’s moody bohemian MuseumLab wedding that was as easy-going and beautiful as the pair had hoped it would be. Their wedding ceremony and reception took place at the iconic Pittsburgh wedding venue with Wanderlust Weddings and Events there to execute every detail. The space effortlessly blended modernity with the architectural charm of Pittsburgh. Azia graced the occasion in a stunning Lillian West wedding dress from Blanc de Blanc Bridal. Her look instantly had Kirill beaming with joy during their first look in the streets of the city. With a goal of keeping the day as stress-free as possible, bridesmaids were given the freedom to choose their own dresses, while the groomsmen proudly wore suits they already owned. A custom watercolor welcome wedding sign from Fresh Cut Prints, richly colored linens from The 1978 Collection, and a breathtaking floral table runner that adorned the sweetheart table are other noteworthy features that made this celebration as wonderful as it was. About the Couple
We met during our first year of graduate school at Pitt in 2016. We both moved to Pittsburgh that year and happened to be in the same class that very first semester. I had a huge crush on him during that first semester, frequently referring to him as “the cute guy” to my friends before ever knowing his name. Just before the fall semester ended, I finally got up the nerve to ask him to dance at the graduate student formal and we have been together ever since.
After surviving four years of school and the start of a global pandemic together, we decided it was time to start planning our future. In the fall of 2020, while the world was still shut down due to COVID, Kirill planned a picnic in Schenley Park where he asked me to marry him. Despite the proposal being crashed by hundreds of people on dirt bikes, I said yes!
About the Wedding
The wedding look was inspired by a moody modern bohemian theme with the goal of incorporating many of the classic Pittsburgh architecture elements that the MuseumLab offers. When planning the wedding, the entire goal was to keep the decisions simple and stress free. Bridesmaids picked all their own dresses, groomsmen wore suits they already owned, and we even found a website to rent pre-assembled flowers. To tie it all together, we stuck to the same neutral and blush palette, with pops of darker terracotta to give that moody, evening vibe. This played well with the brick of the MuseumLab and we even incorporated a watercolor painting of the MuseumLab on the welcome sign.
