When you combine glamour and romance, the result is this Doubletree Pittsburgh airport wedding! Jourdan and Vincent’s story is one that will tug at your heart strings, and their big day is one that is sure to inspire you. From Jourdan’s beaded deep V Maggie Sottero ballgown with its layered tulle skirt to her loose curls, from the feminine but bold florals from The Farmer’s Daughter, from the sophisticated but sparkly decor in the ballroom…just about everything from this wedding is Instagram worthy! And with such touches as a donation to a local transplant clinic and signed bottles of wine that served as the guest book, it wasn’t without heartfelt and unique details either. Classic colors, swoon-worthy decor and lighting, and the sweetest of bride and groom portraits from Kathryn Hyslop Photography…it really doesn’t get much better than this!
From the bride…
Tell me about yourselves! When and how did you meet? How long have you been together? How did you get engaged? All the juicy details!
We met for the first time when we were in different high schools. I had a boyfriend at the time but a few years later, the summer before college, a couple of friends and I were at a local gas station when Vince and his friends spotted us. I invited him and his friend, who later was the best man at our wedding, to a local club that my friends and I were going to (not really thinking they were going to come). But they did and after a dance and eventually exchanging numbers, I had to leave early. Once I went to college, we decided to just be friends. In 2010, I got sick and had to take some time off from school to get better. That’s when we really reconnected.
Christmas was quickly approaching and we were busy buying gifts and getting ready, but Vince was mopping around. When I finally asked him what was wrong, he said, “Nothing really. I just don’t think I have the money to get you anything this year.” I truly didn’t mind since he spoils me all year and I honestly did’t need anything. On Christmas morning, my family came over and they opened all their gifts. At the end, Vince said he wanted to say something. I saw out of the corner of my eye my parents pull out their cameras and Vince pull out a box from NOWHERE! Of course, I cried, forgot what finger the ring went on, and was in complete shock! The rest of our family came over for dinner and we all celebrated that night!
Describe the wedding and what inspired it. Was there anything about it that made it particularly unique?
GLAM! I wanted people to have a night out, eat great food, drink good drinks, and be wowed and talk about it all the way home! I wanted really classy colors. Instead of doing traditional favors, we donated to The Starzl Transplant Clinic of Pittsburgh. That clinic has been part of our lives since 2013, when I needed a kidney transplant. In January 2014, with their help and support, I received a life-changing kidney transplant from my dad. We are forever grateful for this clinic and their amazing team of doctors, nurses, and everyday staff – from the transport team, food service employees, cleaning services, EVERYONE! We have no clue where our lives would be without them, so we wanted nothing more than to give back what we could to them.
What was your favorite moment of the day?
My favorite moment of the day was walking down the aisle with my dad. I’ve dreamed of it my entire life and it was “our moment”. I’ll forever be a daddy’s girl.
Is there any advice you would give to other couples planning their big day?
Spend money where it is honestly going to matter! Don’t worry so much about the little things; no one will remember what water glass you had but they will remember how much fun they had in the photobooth!
START AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE! Not only will this give you time to shop around and get to know your vendors, but it will also help out with spacing out paying vendors. Weddings are expensive. Know what number you are looking at as early as possible. That way you can cut things out or add things early in the planning process
